God will forgive us...

...if we attend Sunday evening services today, right?  I slipped up and forgot to take us to church this morning, I'm sorry!  To make it up to y'all, I found this place for us to attend evening services!  If we get lucky, they'll be having a covered dish dinner afterward and will invite us.   ;-)

Bonus benefit to going here?  We don't have to shave legs and wear pantyhose...we can wear a sari or a salwar kameez.  I think Jake has some stick-on bindi dots we can use, too!

I was so busy sewing up the runs in my suntan L'Eggs (with tangerine-colored thread) that I missed church entirely :(
Now where am I going to go all dressed up (L'Eggs thrown jauntily 'round my neck)?

I feel like I ought to drag out the ol' OHIH jazz hands now. ;-) Welcome to HeadacheMomma!

Soooo, I just read Barbara's "Stan" letter to the judge and...um...yeah. Mommy, that lady skeers me.

Pamala said...

She does. I read both letters and was amazed. I still want to know what the hell they had to do with the bankruptcy. It was like a "She has mean people attacking her so grant her the bankruptcy." LOL! Seriously? She came into most of her debt before people started harassing her.

Anyhow I would be scared of Barbara for sure.

Pamala said...

Off topic but today the insurance company denied continuous glucose monitors because they deem them unnecessary as if I without the consulting of my kids doctor wanted them. Who the hell do these insurance companies think they are? If the doctor says it's necessary it's fucking necessary!

Shannon said...

WHOA!!! Pamela I would be talking not only to them but also the doctor. You have to be able to check his glucose levels. I was doing daycare for a little boy who last May was diagnosed with Type 1 and we had to do the finger pokes on him repeatedly throughout the day. I mean FFS you have to know what is happening with his levels because I learned from that little guy that things can change in a fast way.

It makes me want to scream for you Pamela because this can be a life threatening issue. I know that with the little guy I was watching they were still working on getting him to his normal....a continuous monitor would have been awesome.

Pamala said...

Yeah they were denied specifically because they aren't Type 1 Diabetics. They aren't of course, what they have is considered worse. But I guess the insurance company would rather I just monitor them with the normal meter, but they refuse to provide me with the amount of supplies I need to do that (which is fucked up in itself as well).

Shannon said...

That is just stupid on their part really. I mean I totally get that insurance companies are a business and their primary job is to make money but they are also supposed to help by providing a service. A big part of that service is to provide the items needed to maintain the health of those that are covered under their umbrella.

I cannot even imagine if what they have is worse then Type 1 and has to be checked. I know with the little guy I was watching he had to be poked a MINIMUM of like 5 times per day. How much would you have to be poking them if you had to go that route?

Pamala said...

7 to 10 times a day and basically the doctor wants to get a reading on where their blood sugar is through the day so that we know for sure the medication is working (spaced out correctly) and that my youngest is okay off medication. So that would be twice an hour (so every 30 minutes) for accurate readings.

Pamala said...

So someone explain the logic of bitching about blogs and what other bloggers have done makes you an anti-bully site?

Julia,
Not to mention that she painted "Mwop" with one big broad brush stroke. Really, how many people who comment there do anything but question, speculate and snark?

StringOfRandomLetters said...

Andy by that I mean "discuss" and "voice our opinion".

Lisa said...

What gets me is that BWOP started out better than that. That's why I went there and why I thought Tina had changed, maybe learned from some things that had happened. For awhile, it seemed she had but I was wrong because it didn't stick and she's back to being the same ol' Tina. It is very hypocritical, yes, considering the name of the blog. But hey, that's Tina. And now, after what she announced about me, I can also say she's a liar...for whatever that's worth.

Pamala, I'm typically a strong supporter of insurance companies and I can sort of see why they didn't approve the monitor for your younger child since the need for it might not be long term (it sounds like, I might be mistaken), but the older one? That really bothers me a lot. I mean, I *do understand you can stick him to monitor but damn. I'm sorry and I hope they change their minds. I will say one of the problems is that many doctors have been guilty of prescribing many things that *aren't necessary, forcing insurance companies to make decisions that affect good recommendations, as well. It's a shame.

String, who is Andy? ;-)

Lisa, I brought a tater tot hot dish to the party. I'll just set it over there with the rest. I sure hope someone brought the jello with the pretzels in it. It's my fav!

Pamala said...

This is a fight all kids with the disorder have so we'll go through the process and it should be approved. And since I work in insurance I understand their business practices, the problem is my child isn't a business practice, you know? These are devices that will better regulate my children, in particular tell us if my youngest does in fact need medication because right now we have no idea, we just go on A1c and although that is good she has some odd ass numbers in other areas (Insulin in particular). We just don't know what is going on with her. So it's get the CGM or hospitalize her for a few days to do controlled tests. And to me the CGM is cheaper. Of course the insurance company has no idea that the procedure is to go to the hospital for the tests, so the appeals process will hopefully alert them to that.

As for BWOP since Tina so nicely addressed my question, she makes no sense. I don't give a rats ass what she says, she wants to bully other bloggers. Her blog is a huge contradiction, and what bothers me is that some people can't see it. How people rationalize their behavior is beyond me.

Lisa said...

Pamala, I get what you're saying from a mother's point of view, absolutely. And from a cost point, too, actually. It's just a sad situation that's been caused by everyone involved, from the insurance companies to government regulations to pharmaceutical companies to doctors, just 'round and 'round. You sound like you're capable of getting this fixed, though, if anyone is.

As for Tina, when you want anyone else to do as you wish them to and use any means to try to force them into it, it's bullying. Period. Now, I don't have a problem with bully blogs, but hey, at least own what it is. People who blindly support them without acknowledging what they are supporting, imo, are probably the weak links that were bullied themselves and now see a chance to get a little bit even while being protected by anonymity and geography.

Sandy, if anyone brings that JellO and pretzel dish, you can have my share *gags* if I have have doubles on your tot casserole. Fair enough?

Hey Tina, your explanations still make no sense. The logic isn't there at all. It's not that people don't like your answers, it's that your answers don't make any sense.

It's your blog, do what you want, but own that you are a bully and a hypocrite, just like the rest of us.

StringOfRandomLetters said...

Well, it looks like Tina and I have to have a conversation from different corners, so to speak, because yes, she *is a liar. She said I'd deleted comments here, or maybe she meant my personal blog (I was never certain) that criticized me and that has never, *ever happened and it never will. I do not give a rat's hairy ass if people want to talk shit about me here or my personal blog. Really anywhere. But if it's inaccurate, I *will correct it and since she can't possibly prove something that never happened, it's an outright lie she told about me. Both blogs I have control over can be read, along with comments, via email or in feeds unlike *someone's and I do that on purpose because I have nothing to hide. I dare anyone straight to hell to come up with a single incident where I have ever deleted anything said about me. Prove it. Prove it or, as the saying goes, know yourself to be a liar. Clear enough? Stupid, stupid bitch.

Lisa said...

Alright, I already feel guilty for calling her a bitch. I'm sorry for that. I won't delete my comment since that will look like I'm trying to hide something, lol, but yeah, I *am sorry about the bitch thing.

Shannon said...

HAHA I was trying to see the fear in your eyes but then I realized it was actually a *hmphf look :)

Lisa said...

Oh, hell, I always have that look.

I have a question re: JM and her forgetting the last time she saw Israel. Is anyone else here divorced? I left my husband in '99, the divorce was final in '02 and I remember every single date, even now...the day I told him, the day I realized he had actually left our home some 3 weeks earlier, all of it. It strikes me very, very odd that she messed up on that. Anyone else?

Shannon said...

Well it has been a minute since me and my ex split but I know that back at the time I knew when I had seen him, I knew when I had talked to him, I knew these things. I think she is just exaggerating once again to get attention. She probably saw him this weekend LOL And then again if she actually wanted him to be more present she wouldnt have moved so far away.

Anonymous said...

String:
I'm not there as often as I used to be, but I don't think you have been discussed since the original incident, lol. In fact, there really isn't much discussion on Mck, MWOP or anything JM related, it's mostly just chatting about daily crap.
The super secret backroom's last thread was discussing someone's knee surgery, so not nearly as exciting as our anonymous poster thinks it is. Also, I said I was posting on the forum, and I said I think the Bullies site is hypocritical, so I'm not sure what anonymous thinks they are pointing out. Repeating what I said isn't calling me out.

My favorite jello pretzel salad is made with cherry jello. It's delicious. I'll find the recipe and post it.

Glad I'm no longer netfamous on the forum. Yahoo. Knee surgery sounds well, kinda boring unless it's on yourself.
Now I'm off to practice my *hmphf* look. I need it for business purposes.

Pamala said...

Eh, I don't know. You just reminded me that it's been a year since the finalization of my divorce. Frankly I had totally forgotten about it. I don't know the exact date that my ex decided to try to kill himself, I remember the general time period but not the exact date. But a lot was going on, which included the hospitalization of my youngest daughter right after cleaning up his mess from that attempt. So I honestly can say that at that time, I was more focused on my kids, than remembering the dates. So it doesn't strike me as odd at all to be honest because she had a lot of shit go down in a relatively short period of time, keeping track of it all probably isn't easy.

Lisa said...

Ehhh, it might just be me with remembering dates, then. Entirely possible.

String, I give up...who the hell *are you? Lol, it's making me nuts.

Is the super secret forum some sort of MWOP spin off or is it the one that dates back to before OHIH times?

StringOfRandomLetters said...

You probably wouldn't even remember me. I'm not/never was a major person, but inadvertently caused some turmoil and got myself and someone else accused of some stuff, totally unintended. I was only trying to get out, which apparently is a crime unless you're kicked out :)

I made this Christmas this last year. It was delicious!

Strawberry Pretzel Salad

Ingredients

2 cups crushed pretzels
3/4 cup melted butter
3 tablespoons sugar, plus 3/4 cup sugar
1 (8-ounce) package cream cheese
1 (8-ounce) container whipped topping
2 (3-ounce) packages strawberry gelatin dessert mix
2 cups boiling water
2 (10-ounce) packages frozen strawberries (I used fresh--frozen strawberries are disgusting)
1 (8-ounce) can crushed pineapple
Whipped topping or whipped cream, to garnish

Directions

Preheat oven to 400 degrees F.

For the crust, mix the pretzels, butter, and 3 tablespoons of sugar. Press this mixture into a 9 by 13-inch pan and bake for 7 minutes. Set aside and allow to cool.

In a mixing bowl, beat together the cream cheese and 3/4 cup of sugar. Fold in the whipped topping, and spread over the cooled crust. Refrigerate until well chilled.

In a small bowl, dissolve the gelatin in the boiling water, and allow to cool slightly. Add the strawberries and pineapple, and pour over the cream cheese mixture. Refrigerate until serving time.

Pamela,

I saw your post in regards to Penelope trunk, so I went to have a quick read. I have never heard of her before. I find her oddly fascinating!? Granted I only read a handful of posts, so I'll reserve my judgement on her for now. I think I like her though, she's at least honest right? Even if I don't necessarily agree with her. Can you fill me in on her story?

Darcy

Lisa said...

I'm passing on the salad...I'm good with everything but the pretzels and that just seems wrong to me. More for someone else, though. ;-)

I spent a while Penelope earlier and while I found myself wondering if she was for real or was some type of character, I found myself drawn in and liking her, even if she is a character. And then I found the bad. Among other crap, she made the decision to not pay her income tax so she could use the money to start a business instead. That meant she couldn't legally marry her almost-husband because then the bad ol' IRS would put a lien on his farm. I had to take a short break after that. I've found some more similar to that, but yeah, she's just another thief.

So, JM is going to p\buy herself some plastic surgery, is she? You know, I'm starting to think this is all a far bigger scheme/scam than we ever realized, her blog.

Lisa said...

For the record, I have no idea what p/buy even means.

Pamala said...

Penelope recently posted pictures of the abuse her husband (is he her husband) did to her, and it wasn't pretty. Then she basically said it was all her fault. She's dangerous in my opinion. You feel sorry because it's obvious that she's abused and her abuser has managed to convince her that if she just didn't act the way she did he'd not hurt her, but then she spouts that divorce is bad and that even those in abusive marriages can save their marriages if they (the abused) just change. It's sad and horrifying in general.

It was actually something I found very dangerous about JM as well. To have a husband with a DV arrest and conviction and no real explanation of it and to give marriage advice about being submissive? That's just dangerous in my opinion.

Pamala said...

Oh and yeah, JM is really starting to confuse me now. I don't know what the hell is going on, she seems to be grabbing onto whatever will bring in money and she seems to not give a damn what she does. Is it survival mode, like she's trying to do whatever she can to bring in money to her family? Or is she just milking the hits for all they're worth?

StringOfRandomLetters said...

I think she should write a book. Kind of a tell-all on herself. It would actually interest me to see how she went from presumably being a normal person, to what she is today. I would p/buy it.

I make a chocolate pudding version of the jello recipe. Bottom layer is pecans, flour, butter baked into a crust. Then the cream cheese, sugar, whipped topping layer. Then a layer of pudding. Topped with whipped topping. Yum. And not too bad on carbs/calories.

Lisa said...

Now, see, I can eat String's pudding salad. And really, those are two words that should never go together but that sounds good!

Pamala, I read Penelope all out of order...the farmer abused her? I hope not, as he looked like a nice man. I thought her divorce post was about an ex husband prior to the farmer but I could be all wrong. And, in general, I agree with her about divorce but when abuse is occurring? Uh, no. Get the hell out. And I'll go further and say that, when done *right, the whole "submissive" wife thing can be very good and healthy...trouble is, few people do it right. JM among them.

I just don't get why she's suddenly trying to make all this money when the bankruptcy deal isn't over...can't this hurt her?

Lisa said...

Totally unrelated here, but may I make an announcement? I'm going to anyway, but it seems polite to ask. ;-)

I know many people, both posters and lurkers, remember Rhys. She also went by Barefoot Rhys, I believe, and she was one of OHIH's regular posters, but has also been here some. Her daughter, Lia, won many hearts and rightfully so, but Miss Lia is a sick little girl and Rhys and her family could sure use any prayers, good thoughts, hopes, just anything you can offer up. With her permission, I'll link to Lia's Caringbridge site below. Rhys is a lovely writer and is documenting Lia's journey, their family's journey, in an amazing way. If you have a little free time, please go read to either learn about Lia or catch up with this tough road they've been on and are still on. And don't forget to pray for them, if you do such things.

I want to add, too, given my ugly history with Chris and Elizabeth, that this is in *no way* about money. You may see there's going to be an auction for Lia but I will take it upon myself to tell you to just ignore that and I know Rhys will agree. She simply wants people to know about her brave girlie and to send love and wishes for Lia to somehow be healed. So...that's my announcement. Here's the link. :-) http://www.caringbridge.org/visit/lia

Hmmmm, I must have missed the posts on the abusive husband and not paying taxes. I read the post on why not to get divorced, and I agreed with pretty much everything, besides the whole abuse part. I thought that was dangerous as well. Didn't like that part.

Hmm would not call this a pudding salad :) more like a dessert.

BOTTOM LAYER:
1 cup flour
1/2 cup butter or margarine
1 c finely chopped pecans
MIDDLE LAYER:
1 - 8 oz pkg cream cheese
1 cup powdered sugar
1- 8 oz tub cool whip, thawed (divided)

TOP LAYER:
1 - 3.4 oz pkg instant vanilla pudding
1 - 3.9 oz pkg instant chocolate pudding
3 cups milk

grated chocolate, if desired

Mix flour and butter together with a fork. Stir in pecans.
Press into ungreased 9 X 13 baking pan. Bake at 350 degrees for 20 minutes.

Mix cream cheese and powdered sugar until smooth. Fold in HALF of the cool whip. Spread over cooled crust.

Mix contents of both pudding packages together with the milk, beat about 2 minutes until well mixed.
Spread on top of middle layer. Let stand a few minutes and then spread remaining cool whip over the top.
Top with grated chocolate. Refrigerate until ready to serve.

It's that cream cheese layer that is so good :) And the pecan crust. It's easy enough to make half a recipe too. It's a good summer cabin recipe, since it's all easy-to-keep stuff.

Robin said...

I might be willing to try either jello or pudding salad. I love salty and sweet flavors together.

Stay safe Mama P. We are getting nasty weather too.

Yeah, Sandy, and all you can eat JellO buffett. Actually, I'd not mind that. And String, I still prefer to think of it as pudding salad...it sounds healthier. Lol, I see Jill thinks so, too. By the way, thanks for the recipes, both of them! I must admit, after reading the JellO one, I'd be willing to try it. I thought y'all were just breaking pretzels up and dumping them in Jello.

Mama P, I was just watching the weather...have family in Coffee, Harriman, Sullivan and Campbell counties in TN, as well as south eastern KY and am very concerned for them all today. And now, for y'all, too. :-/ Please, check in as you can so we know y'all are okay, will you?

I'm in southern Ohio, and we were just upgraded to the "high risk" area. I've decided to keep the kids home from school today. I don't want us spread out, dad's already out in it.

I will keep checking in for sure,I'm alone and terrified :(

Lisa said...

Mama P, I'd sure keep mine home today, too. Do you have a storm cellar or basement? Keep in mind that, statistically, you'll be just fine. The odds are waaaay in your favor. I know it's still scary as hell, though. :-( My Coffee County family are hunkered in basements and they've already had some touch down. Gah! Texting is going to be busy today.

Anonymous said...

Thankfully, yes we have a basement, I've already got our flashlights, weather radio together with new batteries. We've got a ton of water and food already down there (its where we store it), and we have 2 work type areas downstairs that I will probably have me and the the kiddo's under if needed.

Right now it's calm here, just raining. I'm worried for us but its my husband I'm more worried about. He is a cable man, he works outside/driving around. gah, springtime is not my favorite time of year!

Have I ever mentioned I want to move to Arizona? They don't get tornado's in Arizona LOL

Lisa said...

It's too hot in AZ. :-P Does he have a weather radio or some type of alert so he can get to shelter or a ditch in time if they're close?

Pamala said...

Not all of AZ is hot. My grandparents living the mountains, they get snow and rarely get above 80 in the summer. I want to move there. I hate earthquakes. Plus I think the winds right now outside are up to 50mph. Yeah that's right, it's clear, sunny, warm and we're freaking blowing away. I'm surprised the power is still on.

Anonymous said...

I could do hot :), our furnace stays set to 74 pretty much all winter. I hate being cold. I don't think I could handle earthquakes either. :sigh:

So I need a place that doesn't have cold weather, snow, tornado's, earthquakes or volcano's. Easy enough right?

I just talked to the husband, he has his smart phone so we can get weather alerts on there. They told dispatchers that if the weather gets bad they'll send them home, but didn't say anything about the techs. 0_0,they did give them a bunch of safety precautions, like to not climb a pole if it's lightening. As much as I don't want the power to go out, I'm sorta hoping it does in some areas because he can't work without power and he'd have to come home

Anonymous said...

I guess our area is looking at time frame of 5-8 tonight with a torncon of 8. Hubs normally gets home around 6, so fingers crossed he gets done early today.

Lisa said...

I'm watching and lord, it looks so bad in so many places. Hopefully Papa P is home before the worst hits!

I'll take winds, snow, I don't much care...just anything but what we have today (90 and humid, again) or tornadoes.

For a total change of subject, did anyone read what happened to Wendy and her son, N.? For anyone new, he's the one who she took on Dr. Phil and the videos keep turning up all over the internet and the kid I defended when they called him a monster over on Zsuzsanna's blog. Anyway, if we are to believe Wendy, something very, very scary happened as a result of her putting her kid out on the internet and TV so freely. Her blog is brokenwon.blogspot.com, if you want to read. Now, a person can't really argue with the screen shots she shows, although, knowing Wendy, I will say it's up for debate, *imo, that the conversations occurred as she states them to be. Regardless, the fact that strangers tracked them down and actually called, for *any reason, is disturbing as hell and it's a lesson JM would be well placed to pay attention to.

My grandson is staying with me tonight. I have a bedroom for him upstairs, but I put a mattress in the living room and made him a bed in there--told him he was camping--because I can't even imagine having him on the second floor while my room is downstairs in this kind of potentially dangerous weather. I need to be able to get to him quickly, and he's close to me sleeping down here.

I'll check in in the morning. Daylight will be a shock to many around here I'm afraid. Lots and lots of damage. :(

Haven't read Wendy's drama yet. I must say that outside of concern for N., I don't particularly care.

The storms hit the rest of the county I live in pretty bad, but spared my little town. R slept through the worst of it. My husband stayed up until most of the storms were over.

I'm so glad to hear y'all are okay, Jill. I hope Robin checks in today, so we know how they are. What a terrible couple of days this has been. :-( My family is all fine; two batches had tornadoes come down very close to them but they came out of it unscathed, thankfully.

String, I used to read Olivia's blog long before I knew of OHIH. I stopped reading after she died, as I was extremely uncomfortable with Wendy and her mental state. I was surprised to find her on OHIH and actually got to really know her there.

We're all good here. It's a mess in the area, but nothing in my immediate neighborhood. Most of the damage was about 8-10 miles down the road.

Pamala said...

yeah whoever sent that must read the same sites I do. I don't know if it's smart of her to do that. She's publically called him out. It's one thing to bitch about a dead beat and never mention his name, but to actually put his name out there. Not a good idea if you ask me.

Anonymous said...

I'm curious if she *could* get in trouble for that, would that be protected under freedom up speech, or could that be slander?

I'd say kudos to the letter BUT, a few things were very off to me. 1.) Someone in the comments pointed out that she could buy an expensive Christmas present but not pay for a doctors visit?

2.) When I was discharged from the Army, I came home to nothing. My mom had given away the house, all my belongings and my car. I didn't have a job, and things were tough for me, especially being 2 months pregnant. I had no insurance but I still saw a doctor, there are clinics that offer free prenatal care, and many doctors will still see you if they know you have applied for state aid. I've been there, I know that they do!.

Pamala said...

Well if the dad can prove that she's lying (that's if she is lying in general) then I think he would have the ability to go after her. You do have free speech but you can't make up lies.

And yeah she certainly had enough to buy extravagant things but not health insurance. Also I'm a bit surprised she didn't jump on state aid faster.

Lisa said...

I had the same thoughts about there being clinics for medical acre but I've got a feeling she thinks she deserves to live at a higher standard than a free clinic, you know? Here's my deal with it all...both of them contributed to the pregnancy equally. Whether birth control failed, whether they used none, they began the situation as equals, in a non-committed relationship, and the prospective baby (or not) is equally both of theirs. Now, if they used birth control, that means they had an agreement to have no babies together at that time and if one, or both, choose to not parent or maintain any responsibility for that child, they both should have the equal opportunity to do so. Unfortunately, he no longer has the same control, the same power, that she does. At the point he says he dwants her to have an abortion or, alternately, she can keep it if she wants but he wants to walk away, *even financially, I say he should be allowed to do so. Now, if she doesn't want to raise a child with no co-parent and no money, she can either have an abortion or adopt it out. The more control you have over a situation, the more responsibility you should have. If no birth control was used, then hey, everyone should be on their own. She's a grown-ass woman and should have taken care of her own reproductive things. For him (or any man outside some form of marriage) to have zero control over what happens in a pregnancy yet be expected to carry half the responsibility, even just financially, is bullshit, imo. And yeah, I know that tends to be unpopular. :-) So, the way I see it is, if they used birth control and it failed yet she chose to keep the baby, I think he ought to sue her for breach of promise. If they didn't, I'd sue her for harassment. Can you tell I don't like this woman very much?

Anonymous said...

"At the point he says he dwants her to have an abortion or, alternately, she can keep it if she wants but he wants to walk away, *even financially, "

eh' I had this thought but I'm not one to say such thins aloud lol.

but in all seriousness, I think that in a situation where birth control of some sort was used, or if the man *thought* birth control was being used and the girl turns up pregnant and he says he wants nothing to do with the pregnancy/child.. then he should be able to walk away.

Now, if at any point he becomes apart of that childs life, that changes the game an he should be responsible.

I don't much have a liking for that particular lady for a variety of reasons, which may or may not have something to do with someone close to me, who started dating his very first girlfriend at 16, she was experienced with things, she was his first everything... she got pregnant within 2 weeks of them being together. Funny story, chick and all of her friends all had babies within a 4 month time frame 0_0

Lisa said...

Mama P, did the girls plan it that way? I feel awfully sorry for that kid. :-/

"Now, if at any point he becomes apart of that childs life, that changes the game an he should be responsible."

Absolutely! That changes it all. I've long held that if women want sole control over their bodies, they must, rightfully, also be solely responsible for what they do with their bodies. It's the only way to be fair and even then, it isn't fair. What if he wants the baby and she doesn't? Too bad for him.

It's 9am and already been an eventful morning.

My oldests medication doesn't look normal so I have to return all 18 bottles of it and get a new batch. Spent an hour on the phone doing that.

Then my youngest's hand is infected again because of her thumb sucking. Not sure what to do about that. The thumb guard isn't an option because she will and can get that off. She refuses to use a paci.

Then my oldest also is complaining constantly of tummy aches and I think that's because she's stressed out about school for some reason.

Lisa said...

Pamala, what a rotten morning you had...damn. Did you get the meds straightened out? For your little thumb sucker, I never had that issue past the first few months, but are you going to freak out on me if I suggest hot sauce? Of course, you'd have to make sure she doesn't get it in an eye or something. Hmmm. Maybe that's not a good option. How old is she?

And let me tell you, school stress can absolutely cause tummy aches and it might even be an anxiety attack manifesting as tummy aches. Welcome to my own mom's world when I was a kid, if so. Did the day ever get better?

I'm catching up online tonight...saw Jennifer's kids love her. Has anyone *ever seen her say simply how much she loves her kids? Mine's grown but he's still my special little snowflake and I can't recall ever saying how much he loves me. to anyone, ever. That just seems so weird to me. Buy hey, what do I know? I also actively hunt out the $34 hotels.

Is anyone here beside Kaytie and Shannon up for political talk?

Lisa said...

If I could buy hey, I'd be the coolest person on earth. Jesus, I hate my typos and really, badly need to check my confidence and proofread. Sorry.

Pamala said...

I took my youngest to the doctor in the morning and took the rest of the day off work so that's good. LOL!

Then I went to FPU and decided to stop going to school until I can actually pay for it. So that's a ton of stress off me since I don't have to worry about that anymore.

The medication will be here today, they overnighted it. It's annoying that it happened but CVS was good about getting it replaced. They were more concerned than I was. LOL!

I think my oldest is having anxiety about PE. She's avoided it in the past and so there are rules and punishments and I think that is stressing her out. Not sure how to help that.

Politics?
Probably no surprise that Super Tuesday made me gag. I'm to the point of being beyond disgusted. I am going to just kick back in my lawn chair, sip a Mug O Merlot, munch on some Thin Mints and watch the GOP make fools of themselves.

I am glad that everyone made it through those tornados.

Pamala: by PE do you mean gym class? If so, I understand K's anxiety. I was the same way. Too bad she's too young to claim she has her period. That's what I did all through high school. Mr Mulchay would just get a red face and tell me to sit out! Lol.

We just got home from the 4yr olds first T-ball practice. He loved it, actually both boys did! And hubs is not the assistant coach!

Now I must find food.

KaytieJ said...

I'll put it out there. Feel free to snark me.
MS & HS gym class is barbaric.
I hated being made to strip nude, walk into a communal shower with the PE teacher standing there inspecting me. I suffered through it back then because it was the way it was, but resented the you know what out of it.
Nowadays, our kids are taught to be more independent of privacy and to say "BS" on being treated like chattel.
I will not go into on this blog what my child went through at PE for their privacy. All I will say is that for kids who cry BS on PE, they get my empathy. For kids that thrive in that they also get my full support.

Shannon said...

I hated PE with all of my body and soul in MS and only took it as long as I was forced to in HS. It was torture being picked on and ridiculed by the teachers because I wasnt an athletic kid and then to have to strip down with girls who literally hated me? Yeah it was the highlight of my day for sure.

Lisa said...

Julia, I'm sorry! I did ask that and then disappear...real life got in the way of internet life for a bit there, dammit. Feel free to be stubborn and dig in; I do that, too, and won't mind. Which reminds me, where's Kate? ;-)

So, I've said before the only candidate I like this time is Ron Paul and let's be real, he isn't going to get elected. Damn shame, that, but anyway, what the hell happened to the Republicans? Like Kaytie said, they're fools. Well, except Paul, but anyway, is this the best the party could come up with? Really? Does anyone think at convention, we may see a first time ever event and see the party put a new person out as the nominee? I've heard rumors of Jeb Bush, which could make it more interesting. While I detested the Georges with a passion, Jeb was our governor for years and frankly, he was fine, overall. He seems to take after his mother a lot. Also, has anyone wondered if Olympia Snowe not running for re-election could somehow be related to this same idea? Frankly, I think she could be a wonderful alternative to run against Obama. She's a terribly moderate Republican, unlike Santorum and Romney. She's honest, well-liked, experienced, and she'd make a damn fine president. On the flip side, why the hell hasn't a more moderate Democrat stepped up to run against Obama and the mess the Repubs have out there right now (excepting Paul, lol)? Not all Repubs and Independants are as hardassed as these two candidates; they just want someone other than Obama. Why aren't they putting someone like Tim Kaine, a conservative Democrat, out there? I just don't get it...I don't get what either party is doing this time. Is it just me (and Kaytie)?

Lisa said...

PE? To this day, I can think about it and my body tenses and my stomach rolls. Barbaric is the right word for it. Have recess, provide equipment for play, but to force it on kids who simply aren't good at it? Is cruel as hell. Add to that, forcing kids to undress in front of each other? Is fucking traumatizing, imo. We'd never dream of forcing employees at the post office to strip down and shower together daily...why in the name of God do we do it to our kids? And being athletic is a gift, it isn't learned and it's not something everyone is. We'd not dream of forcing a non-musical kid to *compete* with a naturally talented musical kid in music class...same with art...so why do we do it to ;em in PE? It's just mean as hell, imo.

Lisa said...

In non-related news, our friend, Andres (--> over and up in the sidebar), has paid back his Kiva loan so now Daisy that same $50 back to help someone new out with! Love, *love Kiva! I figure the fair way to do this is for anyone interested to stroll around Kiva.com and then throw your hat in the ring, so to speak, for a specific person. Link it here *before 11:59 Friday night, eastern time. I'll put the names in wads of paper on the floor and have a cat pick one. Does that work for everyone?

Here's my pick. http://www.kiva.org/lend/391306

Pamala said...

Well my kid is in Kindergarten and PE consists of playing rolling dodgeball and t-ball (which she does outside of school as well). So there's no reason for the anxiety. She is just stubborn and doesn't like being told what to do. LOL!!

Pamala said...

okay this Kony 2012 stuff is annoying the shit out of me. Maybe it's because of people's sudden caring about children over a stupid 30 minute video when just two days ago couldn't care about them at all. Or this belief that by watching a 30 minute video from a shady ass charity they suddenly are well versed in all things Africa.

Shannon said...

Pamela I totally agree with you. It is crazy to me that the plight of Africa becomes some sort of fad.

Anonymous said...

I haven't watched the video because we don't have strong enough internet signal to watch videos at my house: Pamala, can you summarize for me?
Julia

twirldawg said...

It's just the latest fad in slacktivisim.

Here is a better article about the whole thing that I found: http://thedailywh.at/2012/03/07/on-kony-2012-2/

The thing is when this guy is caught another will replace him and until the governments of Uganda and other nations stop being so corrupt there is little we as outsiders can do. Missions and money won't change a thing if the people in charge don't change.

Pamala said...

It's just a video showing horrible things that this Kony guy has done, is doing, etc, to children.

Thing that bothers me the most, this isn't limited to Kony and Uganda. Even those this shady charity supports (the Ugandan army) do the same crap.

It's rampant in certain areas of Africa. This focus on it while good to bring awareness just bothers me because it's not new, it's been happening for a hell of a long time, why all of a sudden is it important? It bothers me because it is a Fad. It's the next best thing to jump on and support and when whatever next fad rolls around everyone will forget about these children and what they go through.

Shannon said...

"The thing is when this guy is caught another will replace him and until the governments of Uganda and other nations stop being so corrupt there is little we as outsiders can do. Missions and money won't change a thing if the people in charge don't change."

Exactly Jill. It has been happening for a very very long time. Genocide has been the normal in so many African countries that changes as the government is overrun and a new regime begins control. And it is terribly sad that nothing changes and nothing is done. I have been a firm thinker that it is because those countries have nothing to offer the powerful countries so they dont care to truly get involved.

You can send money to 'help' the people but the truth is that too much of it is taken by the government or by the rebels....very little of it going to those suffering because of the wars that they want nothing more then to escape from.

Lisa said...

God, I couldn't agree more about the Kony2012 thing, plus the organization only spends between 30-40 percent of donations to actually help the kids. The rest goes to the officers and inflated overhead. No, thanks.

As far as I can tell, those few ladies fell off the face of the interweb earth! Any insight?

D, you aren't late at all..find someone you like and post her link. Then it'll just be me and you, u, which I hope others do. I'll let Beatrice pick Saturday morning. I know $50 isn't a lot, but every little bit helps, no? And thanks for helping to pick a new person! :-)

Julia, my only thought is that I know at least one of them was on OHIH and then there was (is?) another site called Fellowship that I think she was also associated with, at least briefly. Tina, also, was tied up with Fellowship, at least for awhile. I've always suspected that in that time frame after OHIH imploded and everyone was finding new "homes" (many of us went to a private blog known as SIP), there was trouble between Tina and those you named. Now, that's purely a guess on my part, but when I've tried to put the pieces together, that's where they seem to fall.

Lisa said...

Hey, Pamala, how is your daughter's infected thumb? And, lol, Mama P, how is Papa P's...rash?

The whole Kony2012 thing is a little crazy, I get wanting to stop it- but me watching a video isn't going to do that. I feel like it's a bandwagon thing, or the "cool" thing to do.

I may bring some hate on myself here, but I believe charity should begin at home, help those around you first, worry about the rest later. I spent most of my weekend gathering up things from our home to donate to the tornado victims around me. And as long as their are kids without homes, families going hungry, etc I will spend my money and time helping them, here at home before I send money to a country elsewhere.

@Lisa, his rash is good now LOL, once summer kicks in full force, he'll have it often unfortunately, he sweats, a lot.

My M (the 3 yr old) has to have a 24 EEG and Sleepy study done, trying to get that scheduled is like trying to take a trip to the moon,in fact I think going to the moon would be easier!

and I'm thinking of making a HUGE decision but I keep going back and forth on it, it's stressing me out! I won't bore anyone with details unless you guys want to give me some advice or thoughts. How's that for vague booking?

which brings me around to JM- Normally I don't get riled up about much to do with her, I read mwop/jm just for amusement BUT, for some reason her past few posts have been really aggravating to me.

Hi again, everyone. Skimmed to catch up. I agree with Mama P and Jill. And Shannon and Lisa. And Julia. Who did I miss?

About the bully place...LOL!! I rarely ever read there in the past, and hadn't read there at all in MONTHS (since maybe September or October?) but seeing it mentioned here, I went one day last week and read...and what did I see in the blog owner's post? Mention of ME!!! ROFL!

I find her batshit crazy, and when she tried before to drag me into the batshit, I signed out. After all these months, reading there randomly last week and seeing myself mentioned AGAIN in a current post...I think I'll just sign out for good. What a whack-job.

It did make me chuckle to see her mentioning me, when I'd not even thought of her for at least half a year.

LOL.

OK. Kids in bed, house is clean, laundry is done. I just spent the last 15 minutes reading at MWOP. Can I say something that isn't really very nice?
ShellieB weirds me out. Her posts have NOTHING to do with MWOP, ever.
I understand her weight loss goals or what ever, but seriously? Every single day? With multiple posts about her bike, and the pedals, and her calories, and her dad... and so on and so on.
She seems to be a really sweet person, but it seems she should joint some sort of internet forum just to chit chat about her daily activities. I almost feel badly for her, but that's probably misplaced...she seems really happy,.
Ok, bitchy moment over.

"Her posts have NOTHING to do with MWOP, ever."

Now that's not fair. Sometimes they do have something to do with MWOP. Sometimes she says something along the lines of "I haven't had time to read here lately" before launching into her recitation.

Seriously though, I thought it was just me. Now I know I am not a bitch standing alone.

Shannon said...

"Seriously though, I thought it was just me. Now I know I am not a bitch standing alone."

Here here!!! I too thought it was just me. I mean I am sorry but I really dont think that MWOP is the kind of place that I would go for my weight loss diary. With the way that JM is judged for her weight, and now for her weight loss, I dont think I would find that to be a supportive environment.

Pamala said...

Whenever I comment to JM I tell her to not publish it, so I don't believe it was published.

But I told her that she has to be careful that everything will be used against her if IM decides to fight for custody and not to be delusional and not think it can happen to her. Cause it can and does happen to many women. I also told her to look up parental alienation and that she had to be careful what she says because anything can be twisted into it, even if she never says this crap to her kids.

Pamala said...

*can't happen to her.

Pamala:
Did she respond to you? I think that was good advice, and she needs to hear it, but probably doesn't care. I'm sure she enjoys all the internet support she's getting, and all the husband bashing her fans are doing.

Shannon and Chuck:
I feel really badly for saying it, but I just find it so odd! Especially when she starts off by apologizing for not posting much, or not having time to read. The other posters are strangers! I feel like Shellie may a bit too nice for her own good. She strikes me as someone who would bend over backwards to help someone out, no matter the cost to her. I'm sure she's an easy target for users. I think I remember her posting that she has a sensory disorder of some kind, which may account for it.
