Prepare yourselves, Daisies...

....because here is our Chris and I dare anyone to not love this man. He's kinda got sexy legs, too, and you'll notice he shows them off.  He knows it.  *nods*  That walker, though, that's just not cutting it.  RF or Jay needs to knit a cover for that damn thing.

Listen to his message, realize how easily this could be you or someone you love.  Seriously.  And please, if you can donate, do.

Ok, Chris, I'm sitting here laughing through tears! I'm 38, too and your story has really touched me from the beginning but even more so after seeing you live and in person. =)

Thanks for filming this and sharing your story. I know it's got to be difficult to talk about everything that you've gone through. Your strength and determination to keep moving forward in your recovery and to bring awareness to others is incredible and really inspiring to me.

I've said this before and I'll say it again, those blue eyes are just gorgeous. AP's right- the legs ain't too bad either. ;)

AP, I am just weeping, snot and tears a flyin....... and Chris is beaming as I have not seen him do in almost 20 weeks.

He said it best.......I love Lisa and the Daisies as much as cats love string and the gays love scented candles.

Thank you is SO VERY INADEQUATE. But.......thank you.

I love the video so much.

Chris, your determination and strength just shine. And so does your humor and love for others. I also see the worry, not only for yourself, but for other people too. Thank you for doing this. Thank you, Elisabeth.

In spite of the very serious nature of your message, it makes me smile to know there are such wonderful folks in the world.

I've had a difficult, sort of sleepless night here so I hope this makes sense. I'm off to get ready for work. See you Daisys (yes, including Chris) later. Hope everyone has a good Monday.

Morning all!

Sadly I cannot watch the video (maybe at work). I once again forgot to turn on the alarm or turned it off in my sleep and I have a lot to do this morning.

I will probably be scarce today also, I have a bunch of shit to do at work.

Have a great one!

Morning Jae - sorry about the sleepless night!

T@iy@ said...

Good Morning, Daisies! Haven't watched the vid yet. Still exhausted from yesterday and had to put on a movie for DD so I could pee and eat. These darn 2 yr. molars are killer!

I'll check out those sexy legs in a bit, Chris! ;)

Good morning daisies.

There's a militia movement open carry rally down the street from me today - a rally with lots of ammunition, great.

twirldawg said...

Ha, so if I subscribe to comments and click Post a comment in my e-mail I can get here. If I try to get here directly the firewall tells me this is a restricted porn site.

Can't see the video until I get home, bet it is awesome.

T@iy@ said...

Margaret-
Am I a complete moron because I had to google that and see what it was really about? I mean, I got the basic idea... but I wanted to know why and whatnot. Ought to be... interesting.

kristin said...

Porn site - awesome Jill!

Chris - I just want to give you a hug! My great grandmother had a stroke. Grandma lou-lou!

I am glad you have your humor.

Jill - I am looking at getting my special ed cert.

Morning Taiya!

Morning Margaret - lots of ammo - great! Hunker down :)

Good Morning Ladies and Gent!

Great video Chris.

Elisabeth- great video. Loved the republican part. And Chris, you are awesome. I am sorry for what you two have had to go through. I know it sucks.

Morning EL and Kristin!

Kristin, you know you want to stay and play. lol

T@iy@ said...

Kristin- did you level up?

kristin said...

Taiya - sadly no.

Rhys - I got your e-mail and will try to respond later.

I have softball tonight and we have the early games so I had to pack stuff for the little guy. It rained a lot yesterday/last night so we might not play.

I really hope I remembered everything.

Erin said...

Kristin- that's gonna stink to get mud on those new cleats!
Morning Sandy.

Angie said...

Morning all!

Margaret, lordy. Guns and ammunition is all a good rally needs!

Jill, how many days do you have left for school?

I got not much to contribute today. Did the whole get-ready-for-the-housekeeper hellwork last night and this morning, and she called this morning and cancelled on me. Joy. Now I have to try and keep the house picked up until Wednesday, when she can come.

Who's watching Tudors? Jill, aren't you? Nobody warned me the new season had started. I woke up at 4:30 this morning and couldn't get back to sleep, so started watching last night's episode. Then I dozed off and dreamed I was one of Henry VIII's queens and an assasin stabbed me in the chest. It was very vivid.

tumbleweedgirl said...

hey kristin

nothing like breaking in new cleats in the mud /: hopefully it's not too sloppy. when you said cleats earlier, i thought of soccer. i miss playing.

hi el

can someone tell me how to search on natural reflexes that babies/kids have in the water? everything i look up returns odd results. it only goes to show that google is my friend for news, and geeky things, and i'm not good on the momma front.

hi! your housekeeper canceled, because i bribed her. (:

Margo said...

Hi Elisabeth and Chris - great video "in your own words". Thank goodness you didn't stop for a nap and a sandwich!

twirldawg said...

SW I don't watch the Tudors. . .yet. I know it's ending this season so I'll catch it on Netflix.

Oh and 25 School days (counting today because my day starts at 10). I have to force myself to focus.

Really Frugal said...

Morning everyone.

Jill, 25 days is a walk in the park! Each day you do will be another 4% off the total.

SW, My housekeeper arrived early today. She comes everyday. If she would get her lazy ass of this computer maybe my house would be clean. (Sorry, housekeeper woes get very little pity from me :P)

Chris and Elisabeth, the honesty of the video is amazing; and so is the humor you both manage to keep.

Erin said...

RF- for a second I was shockingly jealous of your daily hosekeeper. Only to be dashed to reality when I saw that she is the same one I have everyday too! Mine needs to get her ass up too!

tumbleweedgirl said...

my housekeeper was on vacation this weekend. upon return, the house was polished, the counters perfectly clean! my housekeeper elf (RocK) is all better, and gave me the loveliest gift.

now i just have to maintain it all week while he's gone. doing that while cooking and feeding munchkins should be entertaining.

T@iy@ said...

My housekeeper is keeping her lazy butt in the chair and is staying glued to the computer screen today. Yesterday was killer. :) Maybe tomorrow.

T@iy@ said...

Plus I really have to clear photos of of my computer. I have a 30 gig laptop and I found out last night that 28.8 of those gigs were taken up by photos. Oops. So I am doing a lot of deleting today.

Why is blogger screwing up now? We only have 20 some comments. Ugh.

Same goes for my assistant who should be grading these papers.

Taiya - you should look into an external hard drive - just move all your pics over there. Just a thought, so you don't lose anything.

Morning to all the ladies that just jumped on.

tumbleweedgirl said...

taiya

that's a heck of a lot of photos on a small drive! just get an expansion drive (:

i have 90G i just backed up of photos. mostly shoots, though. then i have to burn them. never again will i get caught without data backed up. it was ugly

T@iy@ said...

We have a 250 gig external hard drive. I just have so many photos that are crap, flowers, or stuff I just don't need that I want to delete the ones I don't want before I transfer.

I just got the saddest news. I've been praying for a co-workers nephew who has neuro blastoma. Last week they told his parents he was clean. Then Thurs night his leg started swelling & he had a temp - they did a marrow scan and it's back. He has tumors in his lungs, tummy and pelvic area. He's the sweetest little dude, so good natured through surgery, radiation and chemo. He just had his 3rd birthday. My heart is breaking for little Ben and his family. Damn!

T@iy@ said...

Why do people want to follow me on twitter just because of my last name? It's kind of weird.

T@iy@ said...

Oh, Margaret! I am so sorry to hear that. How sad for that little guy!

Anonymous said...

Taiya, I rarely use Twitter and had some really weird people following me.

Margaret, I'm really sorry to hear that! Poor little guy.

Angie said...

Margaret, that's so sad. I'm sorry.

Oh, and ha ha to all with the housekeeper cracks. Guess I deserve that. :-b

T@iy@ said...

Sandy- I rarely use it either. I can if I want, but I don't remember to update it and don't really see the point. It's just strange. I got 2 new followers and both of them are following anything that has my last name in it.

T@iy@ said...

I added the easy yummy cinnamon roll recipe to the daisies recipes. If you want to see photos of how they turned out they are on my new blog post. I am honestly not trying to pimp my blog. I just like to know that recipes are going to turn out. :) Also, if you look at the photos you are probably going to want to make them.

Taiya, I forgot to update too. Sometimes I laugh and think who wants to know that I'm having a craptastic day.

Margo said...

That should be a new reality series - pimp my blog. I'm picturing ghost flames and dice.

T@iy@ said...

Exactly, Sandy. I don't think anyone really cares if I am having heartburn and coloring with DD. I am just not that exciting.

haha @ Pimp My Blog. That would be awesome. Do I get a new system with it?

Anonymous said...

That's a good one Margaret!

Shannon said...

I will be honest Chris that video was really hard for me to watch. It reminded me a lot of my great grandmother when she had her stroke....MANY MANY years ago. Then I realized hey this is a guy who is the same freaking age as me not someone in her 80's so I paid attention.

Honestly I think they need to do more PSA's about stroke because so many people really think that it is an "old persons" disease not something that can happen to anyone at any time if all the circumstances are right.

Take heart Chris....My great grandmother may have been in her 80's when she had her stroke but she was able to recover enough to live on her own for a long time and most all of the restrictions that she had put on her were due to other factors than her stroke.

Margo said...

Yes on the new system. Your blog will also bounce up and down like a 64 chevy lowrider at a stop sign in Chino. I suggest some tats to complete the vision.

Erin said...

Margaret- that is heartbreaking. :(

Taiya- those rolls look so good. With my last baby (emphasis on *last) I craved cinnamon rolls too. Right before I gave birth. In the 100 degree heat of summer. My husband thought ii was insane. He got no roll.

Erin said...

Shannon- i know what you mean. I can still feel how my brothers arm felt so clencehed, and how he would use his good arm to lift the bad one, or reposition his leg. :(

Anonymous said...

Hi everyone!

Haven't watched the video yet, but I will.

Margaret - That is terribly heartbreaking :*(

SW- I watch 'The Tudors'. Jonathan Rhys Meyers and Henry Cavill are hot! I think I prefer Henry Cavill, though.

Shannon said...

Erin it is odd because I havent had those memories for a long time...I mean my GG passed on like over 10 years ago. A stroke is definitely not a joke and I am really glad that so many have been able to help Chris out. I have to wait till we know what is happening with finances but I know that it isnt like Chris is going to be done with his treatments tomorrow so I unfortunately have time.

Robin in Montana said...

Good morning, all you wenches and Chris. Loved the video - am going to post it and the caring bridge link at another website I wander around on.

Other than that I have nothing. The kids missed the bus this morning, so the town was treated to the sight of the pink camo ballcap, sunglasses, stringy pony tail, and moose jammy pants. They'll be okay in time.

Robin in Montana said...

Hi Corinne - how's your ash?

Robin in Montana said...

Corinne - at least I wasn't wearing my cowboy boots. That's happened before. :-D (I don't get out of the car, and I sit very low and leaned over to the side, like I'm in a gang or something, so people don't see me. lol)

We actually had a pretty good day yesterday and this morning. He woke up though and was whining, comes in and says "mommeee, my nose not working!" Poor little guy was all plugged up!

btw I do have a new post up :)

T@iy@ said...

Erin- I bought the letters at Wal-Mart then glued and ironed the paper on it after tracing and cutting the paper.

RiM- I see I got you with my evil cinnamon roll photos. :) They are so good, too. I don't dare make any more, though. I have only gained 12 pounds with this pregnancy and i don't want to make it 40 in the last 5 weeks.

T@iy@ said...

Margaret- I have one 'tat'. Does that count? It's all I plan on having so I sure hope so. :D

kristin said...

You have a tat Taiya? Of what and where?

T@iy@ said...

Tree frog. Right shoulder blade area.

T@iy@ said...

I'm seriously boring. :)

Robin in Montana said...

Taiya - you are evil and must be destroyed. I have managed to lose close to 10 pounds what with this stupid gym in the morning bullcrap and now I really, really want cinnamon rolls.

Speaking of weight loss, anyone heard of/done/know someone who has done the HcG diet stuff? Either shots or the drops? The girl who does my hair did the injections and lost quite a bit of weight, but it was very, very expensive. But my dad's new wife is doing the drops (got them at her chiropracter's office) and she's lost close to 20 pounds now in about 25 days, and they were pretty inexpensive. But HcG? I'm just wondering if in ten years' time she'll grow a tail or something, you know? Anyone know anything?

Oh, and Taiya, I *love the letters and that name.

I never did hear what Mulie's baby's name is?

kristin said...

tree frog? For why? I'm sure there is a reason.

Robin in Montana said...

And I want a tat!

taiya

it's your fault that i crave cinnamon rolls? no fair!

i'm trying to go back to south beach, b/c i think it's healthier. and wanting cinnamon rolls doesn't help (:

T@iy@ said...

I don't know that there is a *reason. I just really like frogs. I collect frog stuff, although most of it has turned into kids toys. Tree frogs are colorful and cute, I guess? ha

Hi Margaret, RiM & Rhys! (and everyone else)!

Margaret - LOL :D

The air space is still closed until at least 8 a.m. tomorrow morning. This is becoming a worrisome situation. European companies have lost 150.000.000 euros per day since Thursday; over 65.000 flights have been canceled! Thousands of people are stuck abroad and it will take up to two/three weeks to get them all back here.
The saddest thing is, organs that should have been transplanted have gone to waste. There is a European organ donation database which allows international collaboration but since planes couldn't take off, they had to throw some organs away. So very sad.

RiM - But, every look is better with cowboy boots ;-)

T@iy@ said...

What do you want a tat of, RiM?

Anonymous said...

Robin, one time I kept B home from PreK. We had a pj day. I went to school to pick up C and the principal walked over to my car to talk. It was winter so we obviously had our coats on. B spouts off "Me and mommy are wearing our pajamas"! I wanted to climb in the back of the van and cry.

T@iy@ said...

Go ahead and blame the pregnant lady. I don't mind. :D

tumbleweedgirl said...

i have been caught wearing jammies in the house when the nice friendly older LDS couple stops by. with my laundry folded in piles, and the baby naked from doing PT.

i have often wished the cement floor had a drop down basement compartment.

Robin in Montana said...

Sandy - lol! Damn kids and their need to always tell everything.

Taiya - I have a couple things floating around. I want one on the back of my neck, up close to hairline that's maybe shooting stars and my girls initials or names? Maybe? I like the idea of snowflakes, but not sure if I could find something that doesn't look cheesy. Just black, no color. And then there is this abstract heart design I just love that I'd like ... somewhere. I dunno. I love rib pieces, and something with a lily for my mom would be cool, but I think the trick is it's better if you can actually *see your ribs before you try that. I don't really want anything that anyone can just see in general, you know?

Robin in Montana said...

Rhys - I can give you lessons in hiding from drop-ins if you want. :-)

Robin in Montana said...

And at least your laundry is folded ...

Anonymous said...

I have a huge tat of three flowers and two butterflies on my right leg. I'm thinking of getting another one.

tumbleweedgirl said...

rim

i need some lessons. our front door faces the gravel road. the windows as well. where would i hide??

some laundry was folded. the diapers were, the little boy boxers were. at least i had a sec to hide my unders!

they are very nice, though. they acted as though nothing was wrong, and really, at 8.30p at night? jammies, naked children, what did they expect?

Robin in Montana said...

Ooohhh, they stopped by unannounced at 8:30 at night? That would tick me off, no matter who it is. How far in advance can you see them coming? I swear, I would (and have) stand in the pantry, in the bathroom, wherever until they go away. I hate, with a passion, being dropped in on.

T@iy@ said...

I understand that. Mine is in a spot that most shirts cover up, so it isn't actually seen a lot. No way do I wear strapless anything (except my wedding dress) so people don't even realize it is there.

Robin in Montana said...

Sandy - what do you want. And does the one you have stand for anything, or you just liked the design? Kelly has three, and one on his back, shoulder, he'd like to have redone into something else. There's nothing wrong with it, really, and it's not like it's a name or somethign, but it's just a kind of ugly cross with a rose or something and it's faded and just ... needs something.

tumbleweedgirl said...

rim

i did see a cloud of dust from about 3 miles away, but i had no way of knowing until they slowed to stop that it was us they were visiting.

i didn't mind. i get embarrassed, but i don't mind terribly. they care. and they are kind. they're going to till the garden for us, and let zaya help drive the tractor. (:

in a couple weeks Rock and zaya are invited to ride on the boat with them too.

Margo said...

Corinne - I never thought about organs :(

T@iy@ said...

I hate drop-ins, too. We had some problems with my in-laws when we first moved in to this house. It's about 5 minutes away from them. They would even use their key on my locked door if I didn't answer. They walked in on me half naked, sick, laying on the couch once and about 2 seconds after my husband I got done 'painting the accent wall' once. Needless to say we had a chat.

Robin in Montana said...

Rhys - Well, that is sweet of them. And I seriously doubt they truly cared at all, if they even noticed, the laundry, the kids being kids, any of it. They just wanted to say hi.

Robin in Montana said...

Oh yeah, the walking in with their own key? Wouldn't work for me. At all.

tumbleweedgirl said...

i don't think i'd be giving a key to anyone, let alone family.

gah. that would NOT be cool to me.

and yea, Rim, they're the ones who've also stopped by when i had the holey pants on - the ones with the strategic hole... so i doubt they care. sometimes they stop by and i've just pulled out a treat from the oven. so they do see us 'together' sometimes (:

T@iy@ said...

Didn't for me either. Matt didn't want to say anything. I didn't have that problem. It was for key-loss emergencies, not so they could just let themselves in. It took about a year for them to understand to not come over, though. I kept saying "You need to call first" and my MIL would say "We did call." Um... yeah. Obviously i meant that I had to *answer the call and tell you to come over. Nope. They would just call and if we didn't answer would just come over. Oh, how I hate that!

T@iy@ said...

TWG- your real name is Rhys?

tumbleweedgirl said...

taiya

my 'other' name is rhys. (: i don't hand out my real-real-given name online or anywhere.

so yes, i'm rhys. hi!

Anonymous said...

RiM, regarding the tat, I want to get petal flowers and vine around my ankle. The one that I have is for the kids. I have a pink butterfly for C and a blue for B. I have a large flower that is me with two offshoots.

kristin said...

I want another tat too - damn you guys :(

T@iy@ said...

Okay- I was just confused with the whole people calling you something other than your name on here thing. haha I don't need to know your real name. :D I wish I hadn't automatically had mine set up this way. Too unique. Way too late now, though.

Robin in Montana said...

What do you want, Kristin?

T@iy@ said...

What do you want for a tat, Kristin? Or did you say and I missed it?

kristin said...

at first I wanted a whale tail with the japanese symbol for water but now I want a sea turtle with the water symbol incorporated into his shell somehow.

Robin in Montana said...

That sounds very cool, Kristin. Where would you put it?

And yours, too, Sandy! We'll need to post pics when and if any of us get the gumption to do it.

T@iy@ said...

My Dad and Matt got our new screen door put on the front finally(It's been in the box behind our couch since last fall) and DD will not leave the door open! The second I open it she is over there shutting it. So much for that breeze. ha

Lisa said...

Hey, all - popping in briefly to see how everyone is. I have a lot to do today and don't want to do any of it. Bah.

Elisabeth, we'll have no crying around here.

Drop-ins don't happen here anymore. I either won't answer, even if they see me, or I got open a window and talk to them through that. Hate it. My mom has a key but she only uses it if she needs to leave me something and I'm not home. For her to just use it and walk in? I don't think it would even cross her mind.

Good morning everyone. Chris slept from almost 6 to 10. Which is great!! Gave him his 10am meds and he went BACK to sleep and is still sleeping at 20 to 12pm.
I just wanted to thank everyone for their sweet comments.......last night Chris said he hoped "someone"" would comment on the video and I can't wait to read him all the fabulous things you all wrote.

To be totally honest, I had no idea he was going to start telling the whole story of the day it happened and all. He had said he wanted to do a little "thank you" video, one for the Daisies and one for MWOP. So the other day, we used my phone to record goofy little 30sec thank you's. Then yesterday out of the blue he asked me if we could re do the video. I figured it was due to him being vain and just wanting to look better. He was really puffy the other day and honestly I thought that was why he wanted to have a do over. When he started out ".......and like every other day........it sucks..." I was really surprised.

I thought he did a great job and I am so proud of him. He wants to do another video at therapy this week so everyone can see how gruelling and intense it is. He really does want to know that people will listen, and take that 2 mins to check your BP.

For the 1st time since March when we moved him home to his apartment, I am having to bail on my scheduled days and take my 2 days at home early in the week instead of later. I just feel like the weeks of not sleeping have hit me all at once. I feel bad but thank God my mom and husband can fill in for me.

So if I'm scarce the next 48 hours, it's because I am in full on hibernation mode.

Thanks again for all the wonderful comments about Chris' video. He is going to be so thrilled.

Robin in Montana said...

Taiya - I was just googling and I see that. Hmmm. Hell with those bluebirds, I'm not buying meal worms. lol.

AP- I will try curry. You do seem to always have a bluebird on your shoulder. :nods and hums Uncle Rhemus song:::

Mulie - Oriana "Rory" Mae/May is gorgeous! I know what you mean re:Gilmore girls (love that show, btw!). But, look at it this way, probably none of Oriana's classmates will know of that show and well, Rory was a very nice character.

RiM- they sell bluebird pellets(just like seed but in pellet shape), but usually those are something you add to the meal worms. Meal worms have to be refrigerated so i would be saying hell to them, too. They got out of the containers at work one day because we didn't realize the fridge broke and it got warm and they were able to move. Eww.

If you have a bird bath up it might be enough to attract them, though.

Deb said...

RiM - Bluebirds actually like meal worms the best, but they are pretty expensive. I don't think they are really "bird feeder" birds.

Margo said...

We have a lot of feeders and they all get the same thing - mixed wild feed. For a treat they get suit blocks.

Deb said...

Hi Corinne - great to see you again!

Deb said...

Hi AP! As you can tell by my coming here, I've been doing a lot thinking :)

Lauren has been doing really well thank you, I'm convinced it has helped her a lot.

Robin in Montana said...

I want to put my feeders up, and that's what I usually buy is just the mixed wild feed and suet blocks. The bluebirds are around, anyway, since the state or somebody or the other has those little nesting boxes all up and down the road. I get those and tons of meadowlarks. And ravens. The cats are killing moles left and right, and my yard looks like a war zone. The ravens are loving it.

Deb - It's great to see you too!

I forgot to add, Margaret.......I will definitely be praying for little Ben and family. Little babies and cancer shouldn't co exist in the same world=(

Hi Deb!

kristin said...

ummm....hi deb!

I never got around to e-mailing you - which I said I would and never did. ooops!

RiM - I have bluebirds that visit my feeder and I just have wild bird seed. I actually put up a few more feeders this weekend. LM loves 'em but he also likes to go outside "to scare da birdies!".

okay - you guys are chatty and I have too much work to do. shhhhhh!

Deb said...

No worries Kristin.

Hi Taiya - nice to meet you!

Hi Jill - hanging in there...counting the days right!

EL - Have you read 'The elegance of the hedgehog' by Muriel Barbery? It's a great read :)

Erin said...

RiM. So. What you are telling me is that you have *never, never, never worn those boots while scantily clad? ::eyebrows raised::

Hiya Deb!
My contractor just left. Now to target so my cats will stop howling. They are out of food, and have not eaten in an hour. The horror.

Shannon said...

HI DEB!!!! Oh this has been such a good week so many friends coming and new friends to meet....

Kristin I am totally in shock that you didnt respond to someone's email :)

So I have a question for you guys. When does weight gain make you panic? I had to go in today for my "colposcopy" that ended up not being one at all because the doctor is fabulous and did some other stuff instead.

However since my original girl exam 2/24 and today's appointment I have gained 10 lbs. Now what freaks me out is that in a year I have now gained over 20 lbs. I stayed at the same weight even with the depo shots for years and now suddenly in six I have gained over 20 with more then half of those just being in the last 2 months.

I made an appointment with my now PCP so maybe we can see if something is going on but I am a little worried. I know that I will get the whole "you are almost 40" "depo does that" "quit smoking you will lose weight" and I will be ticked LOL. I have been on depo for like 6 or 7 years now and NEVER had weight gain.

So would you worry or am I just being a freak that should exercise? Now also mind you I have not changed anything with my diet and have actually been working a little on cutting out bad things.

Anonymous said...

To those on my FB, I sincerely apologize ;-D but that song's been stuck in my head ALL.DAY.

Robin in Montana said...

We need a thread on the side where people can leave book recommendations. I always scribble them down but then I have 18,000 scraps of paper laying everywhere and end up tossing them

Shannon said...

EL that is horrible. How could you do that to them? An hour without food???? Where are the animal cops when you need them? :)

kristin said...

RiM - i was just thinking that!

Anonymous said...

Shannon - If you have not changed your diet, maybe hypothyroidism?

I was diagnosed with that a month or so ago and one of the symptoms was unexplained weight gain (I gained 3 kg in a month without having changed my diet).

Anonymous said...

RiM- That is a great idea!

Anonymous said...

Has anyone heard of Suz? It's been a while since she's been on...

Shannon said...

That is something to have them check...I havent had my thyroid levels checked in probably close to 10 years. It is just so weird gaining so much like I have....hell even when I was pregnant it took me almost the whole 9 months to gain 20 lbs LOL

Deb said...

Hey Shannon! I've been thinking about you because guess what...I'll be out your way in August for vacation!

Erin - better feed the cats before they start dropping dead birds and rodents at your door!

See you ladies in a bit.....

I'm so happy to see everyone again!

Robin in Montana said...

I don't think that apology was sincere at *all, Corinne. ::shakes head:::

twirldawg said...

Deb I have 25 days :)

Shannon I would worry about the weight gain.

I second the book recc. thread idea.

Anonymous said...

Shannon - Definitely have your thyroid levels checked :)

See you, Deb! I'm happy you're here!

Robin said: “Loved the video - am going to post it and the caring bridge link at another website I wander around on.” I’m guessing *not SIP, huh? :-X

Mulie said: “We are going with May/Mae because my husband really wanted Anna-May as the baby's name because he is really into Anime.” Love the name, Mulie, and LOL re Anime!

I hate drop-ins too, and anybody who rings my doorbell when I’m not expecting company. Saturday afternoon my doorbell rang and a 20-something guy was standing there. I shouldn’t have opened the door, but he was African American and I have white liberal guilt syndrome and thought if I didn’t open the door, he’d think it was because he’s black. So I opened the door and stepped outside and closed the door behind me (can’t stand in the doorway because of the kitties), and he stuck out his hand and introduced himself. I hate when strangers do that at your door. Usually magazine salesmen, hate it. I don’t want to shake strangers’ hands -- it’s invasive -- but I don’t want to be an ass, so of course I always do it. So anyway he says he’s been working down the street painting at someone’s house and he saw that I’d had some landscaping done, and weren’t my flowers pretty, and did I have any work he could do for me. I said no thanks, and have a nice day, and then went back in the house. Instead of turning to go, he looked into the house behind me when I opened the door, really deliberate-like, so I thought, and then he turned to go. So of course I began to think he was casing the joint for a heist later on, and had a hard time getting to sleep Saturday night. It would be too easy for someone to kick the back door in and burglarize. Bottom line: next time I’m not answering the damn door, white liberal guilt or no.

Deb! Hi and it’s so great to see you!!!

::unfriending Corinne::

Robin in Montana said...

SW- thanks for reminding me of my SIP pain. ::tries to work up a tear:::

That would freak me out - the looking into the house thing.

Too bad we didn't have a banning option here. We could ban Corinne, just for the pure fun of it.

Robin in Montana said...

We'd let her come back, of course. :-D

Robin in Montana said...

Shannon - I would be concerned about that weight gain, too, given all the circumstances, i.e., your diet not changing for the worse, your history of already having depo, etc.

Anonymous said...

Robin - LOL.

Uptown girl, she's been living in her uptown world. I bet she never had a back street guy, I bet her mama never told her why...

:-D

Shannon said...

Well I am glad that you guys think I should be concerned about this...makes me feel a little less like a hypochondriac or something. I got home from the girly appt today and did call and make an appt for tomorrow morning. Plus I have been so damn tired lately. I thought that it was just because of Josh going to work now and being up at 6:30am but seriously I am falling asleep well before 10 at night and need a nap during the day.

Hi SW! And, don't unfriend me ;-D I'll behave, I swear! Well, I'll try... :D

Going back to birds...I want to know what type of bird I have in my backyard - it is black and on the wing there is a red and yellow marking - anyone have any idea?

I need to get a bird book I guess.

sw

that was creepy. it makes me more glad i live 'in the middle of almost nowhere'. if people drop by they are neighbors and safe.

Anonymous said...

Shannon - Fatigue is one of the syptoms of hypothyroidism too.
You're not hypochondriac, it's very normal to be concerned about this.

i second/third the thyroid level checks.

RiM - Noooooooooooooooo

that super tiredness? another hypothyroid symptom

i think those are redwing blackbirds - they have a teeny bit of yellow under the red.

Robin in Montana said...

Corinne - I almost posted Ice, Ice, Baby lyrics on your Facebook page, but I got embarrassed. lol.

kristin said...

looking around worriedly (is that a word) - I have been noticing my weight increasing :( and I am super tired all the time - which I chalked up to having a 3 year old.

I have been trying to *eat less and not out as much, I hate where my weight is right now.

i've been worried about tired and 'mood swings'. black ones.

just read about how estrogen and progesterone can help pre-meno depression. i'm making an appointment. i need to do something anyway, the pms stuff is mostly deep dark down swings these days. not good. i need to be at my best for doing all the things that need doing.

tumbleweedgirl said...

nyah

i won first (:

tumbleweedgirl said...

ok will someone tell me what their baby does when being floated on their back for the first time?

i need to know! don't make me beg... (:

Robin in Montana said...

Rhys -- there's a really great book called something like What Your Doctor May Not Tell You About Pre-Menopause and his last name is Lee, I think.

Anyway. Talks about a whole slew of crap women who are *way pre-menopausal, like early 30's even start dealing with in terms of hormones affecting things from weight gain to depression to skin to all of it, and he is a *huge advocate of natural progesterone creams. Natural only, like from wild yams, nothing synthetic.

Anonymous said...

RiM - I can see why. LOL ;-D

Well, ladies, it's been fun but I need to do some work before hitting the hay!

See you tomorrow!

tumbleweedgirl said...

rim

are there natural estrogen ones too?

i'm all about natural, if i can afford it (:

Shannon said...

Kristin when I went to the doc the end of Feb and say 199 on the scale I freaked out. When I went today and it said 208 I really freaked out. Mind you I have never been an itty bitty kind of girl but I maintained between 190 and 195 back and fourth with that for years and years.

I called Planned Parenthood and got my weights since 12/08 and it was always 192, 193, 195 back to 192 and then boom 199 and now this I am not ok with that...there is no reason for it.

kristin said...

Yup - I have cardinals, red winged black birds, blue-jays, some sort of dove and a few others.

I did buy a hummingbird feeder too. I'm hoping to get a few hummingbirds.

Shannon said...

Oh and might I add that I have NEVER been over 200 not even at my most pregnant so yep it makes me worry and makes me grouchy!!

Robin in Montana said...

There are ones made entirely from wild yam and other substances. Let me look for a second - I have names somewhere of ones you can buy at a healthfood store. Also, Arbonne makes one that's really good, but it's a little higher priced, I want to say in the $30-range. And I've used it before, and I will say it takes a little messing with to figure out what dose is right.

Oh. Duh. YOu just asked about natural estrogen. Per that book, he says we all have too much estrogen in our systems from crap we eat and such, anyway. Who knows.

kristin said...

Rhys - usually freak out but in my baby ducks class some are totally relaxed and love it. Others pull up their feet towards their middle or squirm to get on their belly's.

Why? It depends on the child and the person with the child.

In the baby ducks class I teach - I always tell the parent/adult that the more comfortable you are, the more comfortable the child is. I am very comfortable in the water but LM hated being on his back when he was little, even up till last summer - now that he is in the semi-private lessons he does great, although he wants to pull his chin to his chest.

Let me know if you have any questions - you can e-mail me too.

Robin in Montana said...

but yes, just googling really quickly, there are estrogen sources out there that are all natural, plant-produced, not from pregnant horses or whatever.

Shannon said...

I worry about the whole estrogen thing when it becomes time. I had bad side effects to the estrogen in the NuvaRing so I dont even know if I can take the supplements.

Robin in Montana said...

I wouldn't want to take any synthetic or animal estrogen products, either.

Robin in Montana said...

Nuva Ring reminds me -- who had that funny story about the Nuva Ring coming out in the store and her kicking it under the freezer cooler at the grocery store?
