Happy Birthday, Buddha.

Never fear what will become of you, depend on no one.
Only the moment you reject all help are you freed."

Screw Buddha.

I hate money. I just priced out how much it would cost for Jay and I to go to Baltimore (my home away from home), and it's close to $1400 for 5 days. F that.

I'm going to bed. Hi and bye, all.

Lisa said...

Damn, that's a lot of money. I'm sorry, Bella. :-/

Goodnight.

KaytieJ said...

That is awful Bella.

There are days I strive to live by those words...and fail miserably ;-D I am such a wuss.

Muliebrity said...

I have been painting all evening. I emptied out a can earlier and had to run to Lowe's for the 2nd time today.

Muliebrity said...

I still need to finish. Blah. I should have hired someone.

KaytieJ said...

Mulie - What are you painting? That is the part of projects I hate, having to go for seconds!

Muliebrity said...

I'm painting the baby's room. This is actually take 2. The first pink I choose was more like crack-baby pink.

Muliebrity said...

I have some pictures on my blog.

KaytieJ said...

Mulie - I'll check out your blog - thanks for sending. Pinks and Blues are so hard to get right - hope your second try comes out right.

Muliebrity said...

I like the new color much better, but I wish I would have gone another shade lighter. The brown it's covering is putting up a fight.

KaytieJ said...

Mulie - Looks like the second pink came out right! And I like your blog - loved the zoo pics!

Muliebrity said...

I am not a great blogger. My brain does let my fingers produce decent stuff, but it gives my mouth too much stuff to say. I am trying to find a balance.

KaytieJ said...

Shannon! Did you see the news about "Beaver" eggs being more valuable than "Duck" eggs?
:::rolling eyes:::
(And Daisys - those "eggs" are human).

KaytieJ said...

Mulie - While I am a newbie to the blogger world, I like the velvet effect of the background and the way you phrased your comments!

Muliebrity said...

I'm confused.

Muliebrity said...

By beaver eggs.

tumbleweedgirl said...

it's late. i'm lonely. i miss you guys.

so now i am saying hi, and then running off to bed. it's early to rise, and early to PT tomorrow.

Jennifer-Lynn said...

Anybody home?

Muliebrity said...

I'm here, but need to go back to painting. Or close up shop and go to bed.

KaytieJ said...

Hey BD! Hi and Nite Tumbleweed!

Mulie - Fertilization clinic is buying eggs from female students at universities. I am trying to figure out if they had offered that when I was a broke student, whether I would have donated some eggs for money.

Jennifer-Lynn said...

Kaytie:

I don't know if I'd have done it (I think no), but I'd have thought about it.

I'm unwinding with some wine. I made a KILLER dinner tonight. Even Mr. BD liked it, and he's always got criticism to spare because I don't cook like BDMIL or BDSIL (professional chef).

Jennifer-Lynn said...

Rhys! You're HERE!

Is AP still on? I've missed you.

Muliebrity said...

The blogger SIF donated her eggs while in college.

KaytieJ said...

BD - I am unwinding with a glass of wine from "ass kicking meeting AND *gulp PHOTOSHOOT.

Anytime you ever talk of your cooking I am with fork in hand and ready to be at your table. Now, what did you cook?

I am reallly having a hard time taking the Buddah line about not taking money for my eggs :-D

Jennifer-Lynn said...

Here's what I did for dinner:

I had half a pork loin (less than 1.5 lbs). I sliced it into six pieces, like pork chops. I dipped it (rather than marinating) in rice wine vinegar and teriyaki sauce, then dredged in a mixture of flour, ground ginger, salt and pepper. Diced up some fresh ginger and garlic and tossed that in heated olive oil. Sauteed pork chops in this. When cooked through, I took out the chops and topped with chopped scallions. To the pan, added a touch more oil, ginger and garlic, and threw in fresh spinach. Cooked until wilted, topped with scallioned chop, and served over plain white rice.

If Mr. BD could have taken me there, on the table, he would have. But the children were there, so he just quizzed me on what I did relentlessly so I would never, ever forget.

Muliebrity said...

Ok. Going back to painting. Night all!

Muliebrity said...

And that sounds amazing, BD!

KaytieJ said...

BD - I might have too! (JK!) Your chops out of loin sound DELICIOSO! When you have time post it the Daisy Recipe section...that is some serious cooking!
Missed you!

Jennifer-Lynn said...

I missed you too, Kaytie.

How was your night amazing? I am not caught up, but I am trying. :)

KaytieJ said...

I know you are to bed now, but somebody refresh my memory, is SIF Single Infertile Female? Hmmm...must weigh that into my hypothetical "eggs" for broke student equation.

KaytieJ said...

BD - Actually, I got my ass handed to me at work a bit, due to budget stuff and then they turned around and wanted me in a photoshoot since I am on one of their special teams. I had gone there in a Kiss T-Shirt and Black jeans. So I was handed a pair of scrubs and I towed the line...but I think my smile was more of a scowl in the pic :-D

T@iy@ said...

Suffering from the Curse of the Non-sleeping Child, here. Also the Curse of the Uncomfortable Burpy Pregnant Woman. Definitely going to be a nap today... when today sometime hits.

kristin said...

Kaytie - that is funny! Sorry about the ass handing though!

Taiya - sorry :( LM gave me a a hard time too - b/w 1 - 2 - "mommee, I want you" - and mommee just wanted to go to bed.

Morning all!

Anonymous said...

Hi all!

Kaytie - That's funny! (and you're welcome for the anthropologie link) :)

Taiya - Ugh. I'm sorry. Hopefully the day will get better for you!

SW- I wish baby name consultant was a job! In my dreams, maybe ;)

RiM- You like Sarah Palin? To each their own, I guess. I still like you 'coz you have great music tastes and you're funny! :-D
Personally, I think she is an idiot who has no knowledge of the world. It scares me to think about what kind of foreign policies she'd implement. ::shudder::

I spent the morning at the hospital with my godmother because my stoopid cousin (her son) broke his collarbone while skiing and was having surgery this a.m. (I hate my godmother but I'm trying to be nice ;) )
I hope he'll fully recover because he's a student at the Royal military school and wants to become an officer of the Belgian army. He kinda needs his arm to be fully mobile for that.

Also, I found out that a little girl I babysit became a big sister yesterday. Océa joins big sister Maia. The baby is adorable :)

kristin said...

Morning Corinne - sorry about your Godmother's son.

Congrats on the new baby!

Anonymous said...

Hi Kristin!

How are you?

kristin said...

I am tired but I have boys to amuse me right now and they are being "boys"

Anonymous said...

Lol :-D

Sorry you're tired, though.

kristin said...

LM had a rough night and was still whiney this morning but was able to snap out of it and ended up in a decent mood.

Anonymous said...

I guess that's a good thing that LM's mood wasn't too bad :)

kristin said...

So I had to giggle at LM this morning - at school today it was wear your PJ's day and I was putting my clothes on for work and he looks at me and says "no, you need to wear you ajamas" in which I replied, "I wish mommy could wear pajamas to work but only you and your friends at school get to wear pajamas."

Anonymous said...

Kristin - That is funny. And sweet. :)

I saw you asked about bras yesterday. My favorite brands are Chantelle, MarieJo, Lou & Passionata. They're more expensive I guess, but the quality is very good.

Anonymous said...

Morning Corinne & Kristin!

kristin said...

Morning Sandy!

Just got a call from daycare and his teacher said that LM isn't acting like himself - said he is complaining of a tummy ache and isn't his happy go-lucky self. I might be leaving work early today. Poor little man.

Anonymous said...

OT - Have any of you read "The kindly ones"? If not, I can only recommend it.

Anonymous said...

Hi Sandy!

Kristin, I know when my kids are sick or going to be sick...they don't sleep well. They call out in their sleep.

Probably why he didn't sleep well.

kristin said...

He did that last night before I went to bed and then woke up around 1:00.

I know that his teacher would not have called me if she wasn't concerned.

Angie said...

Hi everybody!

Who watched AI last night? It was a shocker, right? I was so happy all the girls were safe. I love Mama Sox and Soiban. Don’t love Katie, but she is annoying me less lately. I’m not a huge fan of Big Mike, but was shocked that he got the fewest votes. I’m so freaking excited that Adam Lambert is going to be on next week!

Okay, catching up on comments and CK watched Idol. Wasn’t that a shock?

Margaret said: “the DC panda may be prego.” Cool! I was so addicted to baby Tai Shan when he was born!

Favorite term of the day: “Crack baby pink.” Thanks, Mulie! Love it!

Kaytie, there was a photoshoot at the meeting? Yikes! Were you kidding about your wardrobe change then? OMG, just got to your post that you really were in a Kiss tee shirt! Awesome!

BD, Hi! And man, that dinner sounded good! You need to start a recipe book of your original creations.

Corinne, Hi! And why do you hate your godmother?

Rhys, it’s great to see you here! I’ve missed you and enjoy reading your posts on MWOP. Please join us more often.

Kristin, I hope LM is okay.

I’ve got lots to do today, so ya’ll be boring, okay? And nobody shock me with any horrific revelations like AP’s “I love Glenn Beck” and Robin’s “I love Sarah Palin and I love to shoot animals from airplanes” and Mulie’s “Glenn Beck is my Baby Daddy.” Kthxbye.

Angie said...

BD, please give us an update on your friend's baby, the one who was born early. Is the baby home and everything's fine? Do you have the baby shower on the calendar yet?

kristin said...

Morning SW!

Try not to be *too busy!

Anonymous said...

SW- My godmother is an extremely mean and manipulative person. She has hurt my mom - her sister- a lot, time and time again. Long story.

BTW, this mess started eons ago.

One of the many things she did was tell my parents that the names they'd picked out when they were expecting me were atrocious and that they had bad taste in names. (I was supposed to be Théodora or Sibylle). Who does that?

And that's just one of the millions of things she did.

Angie said...

Corinne, I like your name a lot, so I'm glad you aren't Theodora or Sibylle. Are you? Not glad that she hurt your Mom though.

Lisa said...

Hi, all and especially hello to Rhys! I'm glad you decided to come test the waters.

I'll be back to catch up on everything in a bit - I'm in a mood and was just laying low yesterday and may some today. Or not. Whatever.

Mulie, I like your new pink but I liked Crack Baby, too. Then again, I also liked the brown you're covering. It appears I'm easy.

BD, I always miss you when you're gone. Nice to know it's returned. :-) And your dinner? God, it sounds good.

Kaytie, I'm going to be like SW with political discussions when it comes to the egg discussion. I'm going to try to just not say anything. :-P

A dollar says I'll fail.

Anonymous said...

SW- I think I like Corinne better too but still, I know my parents have regrets...

I second Kristin, btw. Don't be too busy!

OT- I'm glancing through last week's issue of People magazine and I stumbled upon an article entitled : 'Would you eat breast milk cheese?'

Ewwwwwww!

Anonymous said...

Hi AP! (and sorry you're in a mood :( )

Angie said...

LOL Corinne re breast milk cheese! I? Would not.

Hiya AP! Only a dollar that you'll fail? ::driving to ATM::

kristin said...

Corinne - someone posted that on FB - I did not read it.

AP - you said you were "easy" - giggling!

and sorry you are in a mood - sounds like it's going around.

Anonymous said...

SW- I do not eat cheese and I certainly would not even consider tasting breast milk cheese. I mean, the person who thought of that (a professional chef, apparently) should be forced to see a shrink. Hello, Freud, are you there? LOl

T@iy@ said...

Hey Daisies.

Angie said...

Hi Taiya!

Corinne, you don't eat cheese at all? Are you a vegan? Allergic? 'Cause cheese is delicious!

T@iy@ said...

Eww @ breast milk cheese. I breast feed, but no way do I want someone making me some cheese out of it. Ewww.

Anonymous said...

Hi Taiya!

SW- I'm not allergic. Or vegan. It just grosses me out. I don't know why. I do like mozzarella cheese but that's it. My parents and sister looove cheese, though :-D

kristin said...

Yeah, you are just weird Corinne :)

I love cheese!

kristin said...

and I hope you know I was just playing Corinne :)

Anonymous said...

Kristin - I am weird, indeed :-D

Angie said...

Corinne, what about if the cheese is grated parmesan, and it's in a sauce? Do you still dislike it? i.e. is it the flavor that grosses you out or the texture?

Anonymous said...

SW- grated parmesan I can do. I guess it's the texture that grosses me out.
You know there was a point in my life when I wouldn't touch cheese, even wrapped?

Hehe. I am w-e-i-r-d!!

KaytieJ said...

Morning Ms Daisys!
:::sputter:::

I choked on the thought of Breast Milk Cheese and Collegiate Eggs!

Somebody pass the bleach!

Kristin - Sorry LM kept you up last night-that makes for a rough day. Hope he is feeling better soon.

Taiya - Hope you get a nap in today!

SW - I about fell over when they let Mike go. I loved Simon's amazed face, though, at Mike's "saving" song. And Ellen steals my heart every.time.

Corinne - You are so nice to stay at the hospital with your mean ole Godmother - that takes a lot of patience.

AP - If there is a dollar on it, I know I am already going to lose :-D

kristin said...

ugggggghhhhhhhhhhh! I think my grandma is going to have to put her dog down and I think I am going to have to be the driver :(

After grandma's scare at the hospital - my mom realized something was wrong with g'ma's dog - took her to the vet and she has some sort of cancer in her bladder - and I guess there isn't much they can do - I guess it is really bad and my mom just called me.

Good times :(

KaytieJ said...

Ooooh - I am so sorry Kristin!

kristin said...

I think I need a mental health day! or I need to drink heavily!

calling daycare right now to see if I need to pick him up before I go get my grandma. Is it okay to drink at 9:30 in the morning? I guess Kahlua in coffee isn't so bad.

And it's almost 5 pm here. You can pretend you're living on CET ;)

I'm better thanks and C is doing okay. I just have to remind myself that I can't fix the problem. I have to teach her even if it means over and over again.

kristin said...

alright - off to get grandma - talk to you later.

T@iy@ said...

Oh Kristin! I'm so sorry about your grandma's dog. Pet end of life decisions, and carrying them out, are absolutely brutal.

Margo said...

Oh Krisin - that sucks!

I think Tiger has douched himself into oblivion - he made a commercial with Nike tugging heart strings about his dead father. Dude, you stuck your wenis into multiple women who were not your wife. Own it! Stop bastardizing the memory of your late father!

Angie said...

Kaytie, isn't Ellen an awesome judge! I think she adds so much, with her spirit and humor.

Robin in Montana said...

Morning all!

Margaret - you can come to Missoula and I'll drive down and meet you! I love that movie as well.

Did anyone ever tell you the story about why Lindsay referred to it as "worship"? lol. And I don't know the hand gesture from Clan of the Cave Bear. And sadly, yes, I did google. lol.

Rhys! Yay! I'm glad you stopped by!

Corinne - No cheese? I'm worried about this.

BD - That dinner sounds so, so good. I c & p'd it and want to try it maybe next week when it's just me and the Co-Sinner. You know, in case he wants to take me on the table.

AP - Sorry sbout your funk. I hope you feel better soon.

Kristin - Sorry about the rough time with LM!
Hi Sandy, Taiya, SW! (I hope I didn't miss anyone!)

T@iy@ said...

Hi SW, RiM, Sandy. umm.. anyone else I might miss.

T@iy@ said...

I have a headache, need a shower, desperately yearn for some caffeine. I am too lazy for the two latter things, though, today. Sigh. I already took tylenol, but it's not working.

T@iy@ said...

<----whiner.

T@iy@ said...

RiM- you have me lusting after those cowboy boots, I just have to tell you.

KaytieJ said...

SW - Ellen is the saving grace of AI. You said it best, her spirit and humor shine through!

Margaret - I had to turn off the TV when they were promoing that ad. WTF were they thinking? Made me want to throw up. And I get so riled up when people talk about therapy being effective in these cases!

T@iy@ said...

So my husband likes Aubre Leigh for the name. It's not official, that is just what he texted me that he likes.

KaytieJ said...

Taiya - That is a pretty name. What do you think?

KaytieJ said...

Speaking of Tiger Woods, Jesse James...there is a live chat at 12:30 pm PST re: their condition.

T@iy@ said...

I think I like it. It might be *the name. We'll talk about it tonight I am sure, and figure out if we want to keep looking. It's cute, simple, pretty. :) I think i definitely like it.

Robin in Montana said...

Taiya - You should have those boots. Pregnant women have *needs, you know. :nods:

I like that name a lot - how do you feel?

Anonymous said...

RiM- Don't worry about me - I eat plenty of dairy, just not cheese! I love milk and yoghurt :)

Kaytie- "Speaking of Tiger Woods, Jesse James...there is a live chat at 12:30 pm PST re: their condition."

I seriously LOL'ed @ 'their condition'.

Taiya - Aubre Leigh is cute. Do you pronounce it like Aubrie/Aubrey?

Anonymous said...

Blogger is being a PITA. Again. Hmph.

T@iy@ said...

I definitely agree about the boots! I am actually going to wait until I am not pregnant, though, so my feet aren't swollen or anything when I am trying them. :) That is why I am just lusting over them for now. Only 7 weeks. I can make it.

I think it's very pretty. The more I consider it the more I like it!

Robin in Montana said...

Corinne - Well, as long as you are getting your calcium! lol. I am making another batch of yogurt today -- berrie smoothies seem to be like crack around here for breakfast lately and I finally have the yogurt down to where it works every time.

Taiya - remind me again which pair it is you like the most? There's a pair of Luchesse's in a store window in Whitefish that I would consider trading one of my children for.

Angie said...

Crap, just lost a post!

Angie said...

Was saying that I like the name, Taiya. How is it pronounced? Long or short "e" sound? Will you use both names, or just Audre?

Robin in Montana said...

Can't remember if Imentioned it before, but last week a local woman here was headed to Idaho with her two kids for spring break - her husband decided to stay home and work - and no one knows for sure what happened, but her vehicle did hydroplane (the rumor is that she was texting) and she kind of T-boned/head-onned another car. Killed her, her 5th grade daughter, and all three occupants of the other car. The obits are in the paper today and it's just heartbreaking, and a reminder (to me, for sure) once again that just because we think we know what we're doing or that texting/talking on the phone/whatever is distracting, and just like *that you can change lives of many people forever. Her son that was with her was initially not expected to live, but he is apparently doing better now and they think will recover completely. So, so sad.

Angie said...

Corinne, so I bet the thought of a bunch of people unwrapping slices of cheap shiny American cheese an flinging them at you would be somewhat unappealing, hmmmm? ::evil cackle::

Angie said...

<<--winner of the insensitive post-timing award of the morning, sorry

Robin in Montana said...

SW -- Kelly *loves American cheese. I love cheese, but that stuff? Is just sick and wrong. ::shudder::

Robin in Montana said...

SW - it's totally okay. ;)

T@iy@ said...

SW- back from cleaning, skyping grandma(my mom), making lunch. :)

It would be aw-bree. and Leigh would be the middle name. He also likes Aubre Grace. Which I like, but I really want to use Leigh as it is a family name. I don't care that it is my middle name, but it is my Dad's and he would love it.

Sad, RiM, about the accident. It is a good reminder of how quickly things happen.

The boots i like are the Twisted X, but which actual pair I want changes by the day.

Well, until I just google Luchesse, that is... crap. You found my one shopping weakness, Robin. I was too cheap to buy a pair of $50 preggo shorts, but darned if I won't buy a pair of cowboy boots for whatever they cost.

Robin in Montana said...

Taiya - don't try a pair of Luccheses on unless you're prepared to do whatever it takes to buy them. lol. Seriously, they are so friggin' *gorgeous, but so, so comfortable.

KaytieJ said...

RiM - I'm reminded of that every night I work :-/ It is so senseless, stupid and so very, very sad. That poor dad and surviving son. And I can't even bring myself to think of the grief of the families who lost their loved ones in the victim car.

Robin in Montana said...

Kaytie - I know. The occupants of the other car were an older married couple (60's-ish) and their friend. If she *was texting,I'd think it's going to be all but impossible for the husband and son to not feel some anger towards her underneath the grief.

kristin said...

today sucks. The end!

I love the name Taiya!

T@iy@ said...

RiM- anything I get I will have to buy online, because we don't have good choices here. Our local (and not so local) stores here have Justin and Ariat but nothing else. I love my Fat Babies, but I would definitely prefer a pair of twisted x or luchesse! I wish I lived somewhere where they were readily available to try on.

Although that would probably be a really bad thing for my budget. :)

Shannon said...

Morning ladies.

That accident is so sad Robin, I cant even put it into words.

My friend Tania was almost in a horrible accident last night. Some moron was plowing up the wrong way of a bridge here in town and she happened to see the car in front of her slam on their breaks and she had to swerve to the turn lane....just as she got over she saw the car slam into the car that had been directly behind her....if she hadnt had that startle reaction she would have been that car his.

Robin in Montana said...

Taiya - where do you live? (it's okay if you don't say) Becuase even here in this little dumb town (like 1200 people) one of the specialty gift stores has Lucchese's, and they are in Whitefish, which is bigger, and definitely geared towards tourists. Trying to think where else I"ve seen them -- stores like Corral West, etc., Not stores like Murdoch's, Big R, the typical feed/outdoor stores, though. I bought my Twisted X boots at a big rodeo/ranching exposition in Billings a couple years ago, but have never seen them in a store around here.

Robin in Montana said...

Shannon - Wow, and how fortunate for her. Were any of the other people in those cars hurt?

Shannon said...

Two ended up in the hospital....

Here is a pic of what the aftermath looked like. Now imagine that my friend is driving a little 2 door Honda...she would have been killed by the looks of the damage to that truck.

holy cow, Shannon.

T@iy@ said...

I live in S.W. Michigan. My hubs and I are kind of abnormal for our area, what with our love of cowboy boots and hats. I fell in love with them along with my deep-seated love of horses.

T@iy@ said...

I can't wait until we move someday and I can have horses again. I really really really miss that part of my life. I have this thing about regrets and not having any, but selling my horses is one of those regrets. Although, it was necessary, I still wish I wouldn't have done it.

Shannon- Oh my! I am so glad that your friend didn't get hurt!

Shannon said...

Needless to say Robin she had a couple beers when she got home. And that truck was actually behind the car that was behind her so that car you can see on the tow truck in the background would have been her.

That just scares the crap outta me because all it takes is a second....one damn second and everything changes.

Robin in Montana said...

Taiya -- I see, I see. Yes, Michigan doesn't strike me as horse or cowboy or rodeo land. :-D

We've been looking for a horse for Kelly this summer. I think we're maybe down to a horse a friend has that's a 5yo quarter horse gelding, buckskin, kind of green broke, but really, really level-headed and kind. We shall see. I am askeered to get on my horse for the first time this spring -- he's done nothing but eat to the point of looking like a barrel with legs this winter and he's going to be full of p & v.

Robin in Montana said...

Shannon - no kidding. I think of that often, one second, not even your *own doing, and everything is changed forever.

Shannon said...

You know what I really hate is when we are getting ready to go somewhere and at the last second I remember I forgot something and have to go back in the house....then we get stuck behind an accident that if we had left on time we would have been involved in. It scares me it really does.

T@iy@ said...

That's my favorite time to be on a horse, RiM. :) I had an Arabian and a Quarter Horse/Paint. The Arabian was full of energy, always. The Quarter Horse was too steady and easy going for me. I still loved her, and definitely loved riding her...

I just loved my Arab baby so so much. I still see him. i gave him to a friend whose daughter I gave lessons to for $100, so he lives up the road. I couldn't bear to sell him and get more money, but not know where he was going.

T@iy@ said...

When we were in Wyoming there was a rodeo up the road from our campground (when I was a teenager and went on a family trip- not on the honeymoon husband trip) and it was about the best thing about our whole 3 week trip out west!

Shannon said...

Oh Wyoming is so pretty...I lived there for a few months and really loved it even though it was my first real experience with true winter LOL

Robin in Montana said...

I was raised to be a total bigot about Arabians, but my ex-inlaws bought two arab geldings and those two horses were the absolute best horses. Full of energy, but totally sure-footed and reliable. Tie them up to the trailer, though, or do some other run of the mill, everday thing that they've had done hundreds of times, and they'd out of the blue freak out. I just saw a trailer for sale in town, and looking at it knew it was theirs because the entire back is kicked up from thetime my MIL tied Junior up to saddle him and he decided to flip over backwards, get his leg/hoof stuck in the crack between the trailer and the door opening and then kick the crap out of the trailer with his other three legs. lol.

My horse is Quarter Horse/Thoroughbred. Jerry. Long-legged and once his weight gets down, hard to keep weight on. Conformationally very, very incorrect, but sweet as anything and will just do anything you ask of him with no drama, so he gets forgiven his homeliness. :-D

Robin in Montana said...

Where at in Wyoming?

Shannon said...

I lived in Wind River....outside of Riverton....It was so pretty there but so different from the Willamette Valley that I love so much :)

Robin in Montana said...

Hard to beat the Willamette Valley, it is beautiful. I do miss the coast, too, but I can't say as I miss southern Oregon and the scrubby hills they call mountains. :)

T@iy@ said...

I loved Trig. He wasn't as unpredictable as I had heard about the breed. I got him when I was 11 and he was 2. My parents heard so many horror stories that they were concerned for a while, but I refused to give him up. He turned out to be an excellent horse. He was definitely full of it, but it was great for me.

Tilly, on the other hand, hadn't been raised in the best of environments, and she didn't have quite the personality of Trig, although it came out more the longer I had her. I sold her to a lady who was my youth group leader, and she lives about 5 minutes away so I can still see her, too. To this day she whinnies at me any time she sees me.

Oh Taiya - I really really want a horse.

awww. Sweet.

Jerry had a ... bad summer when he was 3 or so. He had a bad tooth, and the vet said it needed pulled, which would need to be done at the college (Corvallis, Shannon) and when I called they said at least $6,000. I only paid $1,500 for him, and there was no way I could afford that, so my own vet said he would give it a shot, but no guarantees. So ... many, many, *many visits to the vet's office (who was fresh out of school, not a large animal vet) and Jerry being laid out in the lawn out front while he tried to work on the tooth, and ... that tooth was not going anywhere. It's still there, although the actual tooth has died, so it doesn't give him problems. THEN, during that time, I had him in a pasture across the street from the vet's office, and he somehow got his lunk-head stuck in between the barn and the fence on a nail or somethign and cut his throat to the point the bone on his jaw was sticking out and you could see his jugular vein pulsing. So ... back to the vet he went for *that. So ... basically all summer meant he got antibiotics for the tooth in the form of a shot twice a day, he had stitches in the cut, which had to be cleaned, medicated, and wrapped twice a day. He wore a Kotex strapped to his jaw and wrapped up with the brightest, most obnoxious vet wrap I could find for months. ANyway, he and I bonded somuch during that time that he would stand out at the road and wait for my car and then run, bucking and whinnying like crazy, along the fence all the way up my driveway. I can still yell, "Jerry! Get *over here!" and he will come running. Dumb goof. :-D

Robin in Montana said...

Aww, they're beautiful, Taiya. Trig looks very, very much like the Arabians my inlaws had.

Robin in Montana said...

I have some pics up of my girls' horses on my blog (old entry) but none of Jerry.

kristin said...

Shannon - so glad your friend was not hurt.

LM is out in my room and I'm thinking of reading a book and taking a nap.

I thought I would be okay with my grandma and I think I wound up crying before she did.

Anonymous said...

RiM- That story is so, so sad. It's just really tragic.

SW- "Corinne, so I bet the thought of a bunch of people unwrapping slices of cheap shiny American cheese an flinging them at you would be somewhat unappealing, hmmmm? ::evil cackle::"

Now, that's just mean! LOL :-D

T@iy@ said...

Aww.. that definitely does sound like a good summer! I was lucky and never had any major issues with either of my horses.

Sweet that he is so attached, though. :) That's the best.

T@iy@ said...

Awww, Kristin. I'm sorry. How is LM doing now that he is home with you?

Robin in Montana said...

Kristin - I'm sorry. :(

Kristin - I'm sorry. (((hugs)))

Robin in Montana said...

Did I tell about my washer and dryer? I forget.

kristin said...

he is fine - that is the weird thing about him - he doesn't ever act sick. We stopped at McD's b/c he wanted chicken and french fries and he ate 2 of the nuggets - and then said "I'm done" and went to my room and fell asleep shortly after that.

They said at school he was complaining about being tired - which is very out of the ordinary for him.

thanks ladies :)

Lisa said...

Catching up here...Kristin, I'm *so sorry. This has been an awful day for you. :-(

kristin said...

Thanks AP - how are you?

RiM - you mentioned you were getting new ones and they were paying for a warranty - if that is the story you are referring to, then yes - if there was more, then no.

T@iy@ said...

Well, my husband is home, so I am going to go upstairs with him and start cleaning and making room for baby stuff.

Sigh.

I am so lazy today, I really don't want to.

Anonymous said...

RiM- Yes, you told us. It's pretty cool :)

Robin in Montana said...

Ah, see, I forget what I blab here. Makes it impossible to lie since I can't remember. lol.

Margo said...

Kristin :( The kids here are all coming down with a stomach bug (throwing and going). I hope he's just tired. Maybe the napping thing is out of whack.

I think some local woman is selling breast cheese - ick!

That's sad about those accidents. I think texting and talking on the cell phone while driving should be illegal.

OT- I think I've just solved something that has been bugging me for some time.

I've always been intrigued by the fact that the private lives of politicians are so important to Americans, and even play a part in who they vote for.
This is something that wouldn't happen here. Even if our prime minister were cheating on his wife, he wouldn't be on the cover of a magazine. It wouldn't be qualified as 'newsworthy'.

Anyways, I've been wondering what the difference is. Not saying that one situation is better than the other, just wondering why there was such a difference.

I think I've figured it out. I think the solution is found in...Roman law.
Roman law is the source of continental law (i.e. France, Belgium, the Netherlands,etc.). Roman law separates public and private matters. I think that it has - subconsciously - impacted our culture and that's why the private lives of our politicians are not considered public matters.

The heritage of Roman law is not to be found in the American culture.

Does this hypothesis make sense?

I know this is totally random - and most likely not even interesting - but that's really been bothering me. Ha!

Robin in Montana said...

Corinne - I think it's very interesting. :-D

I can't say much, since I love the 'gossip' of celebrities/politicians/atheletes as much as the next guy, but I have wondered what difference it really makes in terms of what they *do. Take Tiger Woods, just for an example, and since he was mentioned here earlier. (and I was thinking of Michael Phelps as well) I do get that they play a role model role as well as just being good at their sports, but *why? Why do I want my kid to look at Tiger Woods as a role model just because he plays golf very well? And why does where he sticks his wenis (loved that, Margaret!) *matter in terms of who he is as an athlete? What does where my state senator sticks his wenis have to do with his ability to make good decisions for my state? I don't get it. Although I do follow it, I will admit.

Robin in Montana said...

<--realizes athletes and politicians do, and should, play different roles. Just got on a little side rant there. :D

Anonymous said...

RiM- I love gossip too. I mean, I wouldn't be reading People mag, InTouch, USweekly, etc. if I didn't ;-)

I'm with you re:why does it matter. I have no idea. Plus, I don't know that I even thought of Tiger Woods or Jesse James as some sort of role models. They are just guys who are famous. Whatever.

Anonymous said...

John Edwards is a jerk, btw. And Rielle Hunter...well, it's better that I don't say what I think of her. LOL

Robin in Montana said...

My only thing with Rielle Hunter is ... she was *there. She chose to screw him, for *years, have a kid with him, all of it. And now she's choosing to capitalize on it and is trying to roll over and play the victim. I don't like that.

I don't think Jesse James is considered a 'role model,' but Tiger Woods was, and is part of why he's getting so much backlash now. I think if you (generic, as a parent) are allowing or pushing a sports star you know *nothing about outside of what the media chooses to let you know as a 'role model' for your kid, then it's your own fault if that role model 'fails' you, you know? Have your kids choose role models from people you know in real life, or people whose track records (heh, a sports analogy) have proven themselves over time, not just whoever is the latest and greatest. Whatever. I don't know.

Anonymous said...

RiM- Makes sense re:sport role models. Tiger woods is a douche canoe.

I'm logging off for today. Have a good day, all! :)

Angie said...

Kristin, I've been thinking about you and your grandma and her dog. You're a good granddaughter.

Robin, have you heard that Rielle is going to be on Oprah? I don't know when. I hope O is tough on her.

T@iy@ said...

Change of plans. Matt is sleeping and I am doing laundry/eating (again).

Very interesting, Corinne. I would have never thought that much about it, but your theory kind of makes sense.

Robin in Montana said...

I did see she is going to be on Oprah. Should be nteresting.

Robin in Montana said...

*interesting, too.

::shakes head::

T@iy@ said...

I was going to be cheeky and say, "Maybe interesting, too, eh, Robin?" but decided against. Glad to see you felt my sarcasm anyway. :D

Margo said...

I'm square when it comes politicians and morality. If they lie/cheat their own families they'll do it to us too. As far as the press - dirty laundry sells and we are addicted to it. Sad but true drama we watch from our recliners eating our twinkies and drinking diet coke.

Robin in Montana said...

Uh, Margaret? I don't eat Twinkies or drink Diet Coke. It's vodka, grapefruit juice, and chips and salsa. ::shakes head::

kristin said...

Thanks ladies - it was hard seeing g'ma break down but the poor puppy was in pain.

Then I get to the car to see my sis text me saying school called and LM had a fever - had to call the school in tears and say I was on my way.

I took a nap - falling asleep to Lifetime - LM just woke up. Lifetime movie is still on.

Margo said...

I'm not saying I'm not addicted too - hangs head in shame...

Angie said...

Thanks a lot, Margaret! Now I'm craving a twinkie. Haven't had one of those in way too long.

KaytieJ said...

Kristin - I am so sorry. Many hugs (((()))))

Substitute chips for the Twinkie and you've got me. :-D I think Corinne is right, though, about the difference and why other countries may not care as much as we do. Now, do I really care if a politician had an affair 20 years ago. No. Things happen, people make mistakes. Do I care if he had a Tiger-string of affairs 20 years ago? Um, yes. That indicates poor character and trustworthiness. Do I care if they do it in office? Oh, hell, yes.

Angie said...

I "care," in the sense that I'm intensely interested when politicians have affairs. 'Cause it's just interesting, ya know. I'm not sure, though, that I think that sexual infidelity has any bearing on leadership or political effectiveness, necessarily. Or that was my position back with my man Bill pulled his Monica shenanigans, anyway. ;-)

Angie said...

This just in:

"With Kate Gosselin’s popularity (or is it notoriety?) giving Dancing With the Stars its best ratings ever, TLC announced that it will stay in the mom-of-eight business by launching Twist of Kate sometime this summer. The new series will follow Gosselin as she travels the country to meet families with challenges at work or at home and attempt to “walk a mile in their shoes,” according to a TLC statement. The show will also give Gosselin a chance to “roll up her sleeves and see what she can to do to help.”"

WHEN will her 15 minutes be up?

When?

WHENNN????!

AP I read parts 1 and 2 of your health care post today. Honestly I was ready to get heated with you before I read them because dammit I am one of those who falls between the gaps and has no insurance.

After reading those first 2 parts I realized that I cant possibly argue with what you had to say. Damn woman you make a fabulous point and an amazing argument and seriously just damn!!!

I am glad that you put the time and effort into that series of posts because it really did make sense and did make me think.

Robin in Montana said...

Well, SW, popular opinoin or not, I am with you on the sexual infedility having no bearing on leadership or political effectiveness. :) I just don't think the two things have any relationship to one another.

Angie said...

Lord, Shannon, don't stroke AP's ego. She already thinks she's right all the time, dang it! :-)

Robin in Montana said...

And I'll go one further agreeing with you about Bill-Monica-gate. Yeah, she sucked his dick. And yeah, she saved the shirt for proof. Yeah, it was in poor taste, yeah, he was married and she was young and his intern, blah, blah, blah. I don't think her sucking his dick, him asking her to do so, or whehter they played naked tag around the desk in the oval office really made him make any better or worse decisions than had he been doing it strictly missionay with Hillary in the bedroom at 9:30 each night. I just don't think it matters... but that's just me. I do get that others feel about a mile differently than I do.

Angie said...

Yay, Robin and I agree on something! Someday AP and I will, I am confident. (not really) And I'm not saying that getting caught like Bill did wasn't hugely distracting, and somewhat damaging, to the country. My point is that most men will lie and cheat when it comes to sex. That doesn't make them liars and cheaters when it comes to governing. The biological drive to have sex overrides other forms of good sense, for the weaker sex.

What John Edwards did was different, to me, because he put the country at risk by continuing to run when he knew that his affair was known by others. If he had continued and won the primary, he could have delivered the country to the Republicans, and we would all be hanging out of airplanes shooting defenseless animals right about now. ::shudder::

Angie said...

Ditto

Robin in Montana said...

But even with John Edwards, delivering the country to the Republicans ...the decisions he would have made are based on his politics, not what he does or doesn't do with his dick or who he does it with, you know? I think, based on our media and our ability to stick our noses into other people's private business and our ability to 'snoop' in general, the ability to sell a big, inflammatory story to the media for personal gain, has turned all this into a big circus. Whether that's to our benefit or not, I don't know. Celebrities, politicians, religious leaders, whoever, have been up to shenangians since the dawn of time, it's just that now we are able to *catch them at it. So whehter or not it makes the decisions they make and the leadership they hand down any more or less credible, good, bad, indifferent, than in times past, who is to say, you know? Much easier to hold up someone in the past as a "great leader" when we don't really know too many details of their personal life since they were able to hide those details than someone now who can't fart sidewise without someone having photograhped or chronicled or sold the story to.

Robin in Montana said...

I apologize for my typing. My keyboard has issues.

Angie said...

Well said, Robin. If not well typed.

Cough.

Robin in Montana said...

Killed it with Monica and Bill playing naked tag, didn't I?

T@iy@ said...

Soo.. what's for dinner?

btw, BD- Your dinner yesterday? Sounded *amay-zing!

T@iy@ said...

You might have killed my interest in sex for a while with the thought of Monica and Bill playing naked tag... I have to admit.

Robin in Montana said...

Well, Bill naked could kill anyone's interest in sex. I'm just sayin' ..

We are having the pot roast for dinner tonight. It's in the oven and it smells *stupid good. Cut onions in half and browned/seared those little suckers in olive oil, then removed. Seared the roast, took it out and deglazed (ha, fancy term) the dutch oven with some red wine and beef broth. Threw it all back in, some onions on the bottom, some on top with some more beef broth, some more red wine, a spash or so of soy sauce, lots of kosher salt, fresh pepper, and thyme. We shall see ... no potatoes in the roast. If everyone wants them, I will make some mashed taters, otherwise, we will, per the kids' request, just shred the roast up for french dips.

T@iy@ said...

My hubs did brats on the grill marinated in my corn relish. Potatoes with spices and red wine vinegar, and broccoli. For dessert we are having biscuits with peach and blueberry pie filling from the freezer from last years canning. Yum. Great dinner. Best thing about it? I don't have to do much. Just make the biscuits and 'decorate' the potatoes.

Angie said...

Bill was hot. I met an intern who worked in the White House for Bill during the whole mess, and she said that his sexual "aura," for want of a better word, was electric. He would walk into a room and the atmosphere would change and her arms hairs would rise.

I'm going to shut up now, before our beloved conservative Daisies start puking. :-X

T@iy@ said...

::vomiting discreetly in the corner::

Angie said...

Oooo, dinner at Taiya and Robin's tonight! Both sound great! Reheated pizza for me. :-(

But I've forbidden myself to leave work until I finish a project I'm working on, and have been for pretty much ever. Ugh.

Angie said...

Sorry, Taiya, I'm really shutting up about it now. I appreciate your patience. No more Bill worship talk.

Margo said...

I humbly disagree - a person's charactar carries into every part of their lives. If they can't be trusted - they can't be trusted. I think we should be able to trust our politicians.

As for Monica Blowinsky - it was a gap dress with the presidential "seal" on it and her mother kept it for her - eww. I wonder when it's going to be put in the Smithsonian.

T@iy@ said...

Yumm.. Robin. Dinner sound great!

We are down to the bare bones in the freezer because we are waiting for our cow to get done and need space, so we threw together the very last stuff in our freezer. I am not sure what I am going to do tomorrow. I think my husband might be eating frozen raviolis and chewing on some raw carrots. :D I guess he could eat a jar of canned tomatoes if he gets really desperate. :)

Angie said...

"I wonder when it's going to be put in the Smithsonian." LOL Margaret! I'm thinking no, but maybe! Who has the dress now? Monica still?

T@iy@ said...

Thanks, SW. I've done enough vomiting during this pregnancy.

I have to tell you... Bill-induced vomiting is the worst. It's not all about being conservative and my inability to stand Clintons. He just does not do anything for me on any level for looks. ::shudders violently::

Shannon said...

But Margaret we already know for a fact we cant trust politicians...whether someone knows about their blowjobs or not we know that they are politicians and 99% of them cannot be trusted.

Angie said...

Can either Corinne or FT do me a huge favor and translate the following?

I don't need word-for-word necessarily; just the gist. My two years of high school French, a lifetime ago, aren't much help. :-(
