Thursday

Just a reminder for anyone new stopping by:

Please take a moment to read the "rules" to the right and it might not hurt to read the first post on this blog, too. Or not. I don't care but it could save you a little grief later if you're the sensitive sort and plan on sticking around. ;-)

I'm first :)

Corinne -

You should be able to watch episodes on ABC.com.

Not sure if you are on this post yet so I will go over to the other one to tell you :)

Shannon said...

Hey when the dog wakes me up 2 hours earlier than I want to be awake catching up is easier LOL.

Morning all

Lisa said...

Catching up some, but good morning!

Shannon said...

Kristin the comment that was made about you from MWoP yesterday was by Marie...Her comment was along the lines of what happened with you being banned from SIPS. The thing that got me with that is that it is something that JUST happened and who is this person to know things from old OHIH days, yet claim to have not been there AND they know about things going on in recent weeks too?

Anonymous said...

Thanks, Kristin! I'm so going to watch later!

Anonymous said...

Btw, I do not think Jake is that attractive.

Robin in Montana said...

Kristin -- bombs in breast transplants? OUCH!

Yes, Corinne, I'm sure all episodes from this season are available at ABC.com. YOu'll be able to skip through them and get the gist of it. Lots of talk about "this amazing journey" and blah, blah, blah. Addictive train wreck.

Anonymous said...

RiM- That's the thing with junk TV, it's very addictive ;)

Robin in Montana said...

Well, crud. I correctly answered all the Word Nerd quiz questions, but didn't win the Kindle at PW. Nor did I win the Powerball this morning. I thought *both of those items were sure things this morning! :)

Robin in Montana said...

Corinne. I hear you. :::says the woman who may have watched hours on end of Cops this last Sunday afternoon waiting for Superbowl to start:::

Lisa said...

There's nothing wrong with Cops. Even hours of it. I don't know about anyone else, but it makes me feel all self-righteous.

Anonymous said...

RiM - I can watch even the most stupid tv shows. That's my problem.

I also have a major tv-series addiction.

Lisa said...

Real Housewives is on tonight...I can't wait to hear about Lynn's eviction. I figure it keeps me off the streets.

Lindsay said...

Good morning! Might I highly recommend perusing under1000braincells this morning? I laughed out loud at the recipe post. Oh Lordy!

Robin in Montana said...

Lisa - I agree. Plus, it's educational. It teaches you what does NOT work while being arrested in case you're ever in that situation. Insisting that the drugs in your bra aren't yours, for instance. Never. Works. Also not good is trying to bite the cop. Unless you like your face skidded down the street with three guys on your back. In which case? Hit it.

Corinne -- what series? I think the only series I'm addicted to these days are the Office and Gray's Anatomy. But I have a whole slew of them on my Netflix queue to become addicted to.

Lisa said...

The Mexican soup variation? Made me snort.

Robin in Montana said...

That was funny, the recipe post on 1,000 brain cells. Also, this, from yesterday:

When the snow is fresh and there is still some covering in the driveway, Daniel likes to draw in it with his feet[That is, when I haven't let him lapse into a coma due to neglect and starvation].

Anonymous said...

Hi Lindsay!

AP- I've only ever watched the "real housewives of New Jersey" but, boy is it addictive (How many times can you use addictive/addiction before it becomes annoying? Lol)

RiM- House, Private Practice, Weeds, Law&order: SVU, Numbers, Criminal minds, the mentalist, Grey's anatomy, Nip/Tuck, Dexter, How I met(your mother) & Big love.

I'm also very sad Gilmor girls was canceled two (?) years ago because I <3 it.

Anonymous said...

*Gilmore

twirldawg said...

Grrrr, as if I didn't have enough to read on the Internet, now I have to go see about the <1000braincells blog. Thanks ladies.

Anonymous said...

I forgot "The Tudors". Love that show.

Lisa said...

Robin, what I've learned from Cops is to never ride a bicycle after dark in urban areas. Typically, you will be the first to be accused of everything, especially if you have any type of backpack with you. Also, never wear droopy pants if you plan on committing a crime. Lastly, always wear attractive, modest pajamas to bed in case you are a victim of an urban bicyclist or a droopy pants person.

Robin in Montana said...

Corinne - I have Private Practice up on Netflix. I need to watch the Mentalist, because I would marry Simon Baker. If he asked. I also have Nip/Tuck lined up on Netflix. Have you ever watched Rescue Me? Or Damages? Both on F/X? They are both *fabulous. Have to watch both from the beginning, though, especially Damages.

Anonymous said...

Hi Jill! (and you'll thank us later ;) )

Lindsay said...

Hi Corinne! I love the Tudors. Oh my gosh, I wish I wasn't too cheap to buy Showtime!

Lisa said...

Corinne, you've got to try Real Housewives of Orange County or NY. If you like Jersey, you'll love these. Atlanta? Was so-so for me.

Robin in Montana said...

Lisa -- All good lessons. Also, cops do not have a well developed sense of humor, so trying to joke with them to keep them from noticing the incredible amount of jerkiness your muscles insist on doing isn't going to work, either. Also, keep a pack of cigarettes on hand, because even if you are filmed during an episode of Cops, you will never make actual airtime without one hanging out the side of your mouth.

Lindsay said...

Oh, Nip/Tuck. . . I am seriously in love with Julian McMahon. He's so naughty.

And I secretly watch cops when I think nobody is looking.

Robin in Montana said...

I think NY housewives are my favorite, but I like OC, too. Never really liked Jersey. Way too much Z-formation-finger-snapping drama for me.

Anonymous said...

- LMAO AP!

- I have not seen either of those. What are you doing to me? As if I didn't have enough addictions already! :D

twirldawg said...

OH, and good morning :)

Anonymous said...

AP- I'll try the real housewives of OC.

Lindsay- I think I'm in love with Jonathan Rhys Meyers. I doubt Henry VIII looked anthing like him but I don't care. When you've JRM as Henry VIII, you forget all the historical inaccuracies ;-)

Julian McMahon is hot, too!

RiM- I love drama!

kristin said...

I think my sister is going to kill someone today. :)

Is it bad that I am laughing?

and you ladies are making me feel much better - my only addictions are reality shows...I can't afford showtime and all them other fancy shmancy channels :)

Anonymous said...

Y'all are cracking me up.

Robin in Montana said...

Lindsay -- You can hold your head high here and we'll never slam you for your Cops love.

Corinne -- Just from the other shows you mentioned, you'd love both of those. Rescue Me is a drama, but I'm telling you, the writers of that show have the absolute *best one-liners. and Damanges has Glenn Close as a bitch-on-wheels attorney and the story is pretty complicated, but *so, so good.

kristin said...

Oh and Corinne....I was also very sad when Gilmore girls went off the air.

The mom has a new show coming out though...not sure what it's called but it looks entertaining.

Lindsay said...

Kristin - I think it's called Parenthood on NBC. It kind of looks funny, and I really like Craig T. Nelson, so I'm glad he's back in a show, too.

Corinne - I think JRM really makes that show. He's hot and a great actor.

Okay, I'm off to take kids to school and head to yoga. I'll be back later where I'll try to catch up, and probably not have a lot of luck!

Lisa said...

Robin, speaking of cigarettes, so you - or anyone - watch Dog The Bounty Hunter? Have you heard about all the drama going on there? Depending on which story you hear, Beth fired Duane Lee and Leland for starting a clothing line and basically neglecting the show. The other story is that the sons walked away to devote time to the clothing line. Either way, that family has come apart. So sad but that makes for good drama!

Anonymous said...

RiM- Both series will go on my "to watch" list (yes, I do write a 'to watch' list :p)

Kristin- Gilmore girls was awesome. The lines and the overall dynamic of the show was undescribable (in a good way)
Lorelai has got to be one of my favorite TV characters!

Shannon said...

I unfortunately am addicted to the VH1 world of reality TV......I dont get why but I get sucked in every time.

twirldawg said...

I'm glad to know that you ladies share my love of tv. Thank goodness for the DVR or I would not be able to keep up.

Lisa said...

Kristin, what is your sister doing? And I can't afford all the fancy channels either. I will admit, though, that I'd give up fabric softener to keep Bravo.

Anonymous said...

Jill- I want to marry my DVR.

Lisa said...

Jill, sorry if you said and I missed it, but how are you feeling?

Robin in Montana said...

I don't watch Dog the Bounty Hunter. I've seen it a couple times, but not enough to know everyone.

Are you watching Project Runway, Lisa? Or anyone else? I have a couple taped, but keep forgetting it.

Anonymous said...

Toddlers and tiaras is another junk tv show I enjoy.

Lord. Call 911 and have me committed.

Lisa said...

Yep, I'm watching it! It's shaping up to be a season than last, so jump in. Nothing is ever going to beat the season with Chris and Christian, though.

Anonymous said...

RiM- I watch project Runway.

This is getting serious people. I need to be seen by the best psychiatrists.

Robin in Montana said...

Corinne -- I'll see you in the waiting room! lol.

Anonymous said...

Lol, RiM!

I'm catching up on MWoP. Lots of drama there last night.

kristin said...

AP - one of the salesmen at the office is "older"...lol and is driving me insane..he makes comments like..."if it was easy, they'd hire women and children to do it" and today she printed a letter 3 x's and he picked it up of the printer and questioned her - she answered that the other salesman wanted 3 copies and he said "oh, I doubt he wanted 3 letters...." - luckily the phone rang and I interjected (is that a word)...I think the pregnancy is making her a little bitchy...but it is freakin' hysterical.

Oh, and my other sister is annoying her well b/c she doesn't have a brain.

kristin said...

..."driving me insane" should be "driving her insane"

Lisa said...

Kristin, I hope she snaps on that salesman...he's an ass.

Anonymous said...

Kristin - Men are idiots (that man is, anyway). More power to your sister!

kristin said...

It's funny b/c my middle sister used to date his son.

I don't know why he has it in for my other sister though. It is entertaining to watch/hear though. I just shake my head and roll my eyes a lot.

Robin in Montana said...

She needs to work that pregnant psycho-ness to her advantage. Scare him. lol.

Robin in Montana said...

In keeping with today's talk of t.v. -- the new season of Survivor with the "heroes v. villains" theme starts tonight...

kristin said...

I'm so excited RiM but gonna miss chattin' with everyone 'bout it :(

Shannon said...

I have the alarm on my phone are a reminder on my TV so I dont make a bone head move and miss it

I AM SO EXCITED ABOUT SURVIVOR!!!

Robin in Montana said...

Kristin - You have to put our needs ahead of your own. We need you to have laptop. :-D

kristin said...

working on it now RiM!

well not just for you, but I saw a position at the zoo that interests me and I want to get them my resume.

I'm just hoping that I don't *need that money anytime soon...ya know.

Robin in Montana said...

Kristin - I understand. That'd be *very awesome about the zoo! What is it?

kristin said...

I can't hit the submit button...

Just tell me to! Kick me and make me do it.

kristin said...

Just did it :( and :)

Robin in Montana said...

Good for you. :-)

kristin said...

There are a few positions but one would be a zookeeper for the Natural Encounters which would be awesome, the other would be something in education. I would have to look at the position again.

Shannon said...

Either of those would be really cool jobs Kristin. Good luck!!!

kristin said...

Zoo Keeper:

Description
Carries out all aspects of the daily care of assigned animals including cleaning, feeding, grooming, and observing animals. Administers medication and treatment as directed. Provides training and enrichment. Participates in education and conservation programs.

Lisa said...

Kristin, good luck - being in the zoo would make you happier, I bet! Well, that sounds funny, but whatever.

kristin said...

Academics Programs Supervisor:

Description
Direct and lead Academic Programs for educators and school groups of all ages regarding natural sciences (including zoology, ecology, conservation and animal husbandry) with the goal of increasing an understanding and appreciation of the natural world. Back-up responsibility for public programming; including summer and winter camps.

twirldawg said...

AP- I posted and ran. I'm feeling better, thanks for asking.

kristin said...

My sister used to tell people (and she really believed it) that my mom worked at a zoo. It is a running joke in our family :)

Anonymous said...

That would be really cool Kristin. I bet you would be great in either of those positions.

kristin said...

I'm not feeling very confident...the last time I applied at the zoo, I called every week to speak with HR and each time I called, they were "out".

Oh well!

kristin said...

I used to work for a non-profit rescuing dolphins and I LOVED it, but the most fun was getting the kids involved. Going to the convention centers and setting up booths and talking to the kids.

I also worked for Moody Gardens - aquaurium/rain forest type thing - in the education department and LOVED it. I loved doing boy scout badges and sleep overs. That was the most fun!

Angie said...

Shannon, I'M SO EXCITED ABOUT SURVIVOR TONIGHT TOO! :-)

kristin said...

My computer is ready to be picked up but its raining and cold :(

Oh, and I have to go to the restroom and are bathrooms are f'd up....JOY! What to do, what to do?

Amy said...

Hi everybody...I like the daisies, AP. What's shakin'?

kristin said...

hello?
hellloooooo?
Hellllooooooooo?

Anyone out there?

kristin said...

Hey Amy...didn't see you! lol!

Amy said...

:) I think we posted at the same time.

cupcake said...

Hello Amy & Kristin!

Amy said...

Hi cupcake! How's the weather in Cali?

cupcake said...

Kristin - What's going on with your computer?

kristin said...

I guess everyone has left!

Amy said...

I have a meeting in half an hour I have to go to, but I wanted to pop in and say hi. Rob works late tonight, so I'll try to come back and chat after the kiddos go to bed.

cupcake said...

Hey Amy - The weather is better now that it isn't pouring rain! It's about 60 degrees today and this weekend we may see temps in the 70's!

kristin said...

Hey CC!

Computer - the connection b/w the AC adapter/power cable no longer makes the internal connection to provide power to the batter so it has bit the dust. My computer geek BIL looked at it and says the connection is really loose and it would probably cost a lot in labor to get it fixed. :(

He did some research for me and found me a relatively inexpensive one that will work...and now I just have to pick it up.

How are you?

kristin said...

and Amy, I responded back to your e-mail :)

kristin said...

do you have a voice today CC?

cupcake said...

Hi Kristin - I am still pretty much without a voice. I think I may have lost it due to allergies, not sure. Anyway, my sinuses are now killing me, ugh!

cupcake said...

I'm glad you are able to get a new computer, other than the expense that's always fun!

cupcake said...

Way to make everyone run and hide, cupcake!

kristin said...

I'm still here.

Really wanting to go get my computer but looking at the nastiness outside :(

kristin said...

Alright, off to go pick up my computer. Not sure if I will have internet service tonight or not...but I'll have a computer :)...and less money :(

Angie said...

Amy! Hi! I've been thinking about you!

Robin in Montana said...

Hi all -- me and my cold sore are just sitting here trying to work. Have successfully resisted the freak show blogs today and am feeling awfully self-righteous on *that one. :nods:

Lisa said...

Hiya, Amy! Glad to see you over this way. :-)

I visted the freak show blogs...MWoP, at least, isn't as good as yesterday.

kristin said...

Hey RiM - I have a cold sore too! lol

Computer picked up...and it is miserable out. Luckily I only had to drive about 7 minutes!

Angie said...

Yay for the new computer, Kristin!

Robin in Montana said...

Glad you got your computer, Kristin! What's it doing outside? Snow? Rain? We woke up to maybe an inch of new snow, but it's supposed to rain on it tonight, which will make it nice and icier than hell tomorrow morning.

Icier than hell? What does that *mean?

kristin said...

Just rain RiM - since early this morning - parts North of us are looking at getting snow, possibly 2 inches by morning.

kristin said...

Where is everyone today? I hope everyone is safe and warm!

Anonymous said...

It's snowing here Kristin...enough to close schools today.

kristin said...

Where are you again Christy?

damn...I'm getting "old"...lol!

Anonymous said...

A bit north of Dallas Kristin. You are getting forgetful in your old age.

kristin said...

Right! That I am....geesh! I should remember the Texas ladies!

Our construction manager is up in Austin today. It is just crappy and cold here. The bathrooms don't work and I'm tired...but hey, I got a new computer...and I am getting a haircut tonight...woo hoo!

Anonymous said...

Yea for the computer. Did you get the Acer? We need to get our kids something soon. Was it a pretty good deal?

kristin said...

Christy - it was - under $400.00 - and I ordered it online and picked it up at the store. Very easy.

All the reviews are pretty positive.

Anonymous said...
This comment has been removed by the author.
kristin said...

Christy - I think you posted that on the wrong site. I haven't seen Tara on here :)

Anonymous said...

Hehe, so having multiple windows open is *not a good idea.

Lisa said...

Ooohhh, I don't know. It could be a lot of fun for the rest of us, Christy. ;-)

kristin said...

That's what I was thinking too AP!

Anonymous said...

I'm just glad I didn't say anything stoopid or call anyone old.

Lisa said...

It's quiet around here today, isn't it, Kristin? I've got to make a Walmart run in a bit...does anyone else buy crap they just know they need badly, then have to return it when you realize you really don't have much need for it at all?

Lisa said...

Christy, I'm just glad you didn't feel the need to email me about it. ;-)

kristin said...

Yes it is...and yes I do AP!

LOL

kristin said...

I really wish my boss would stop hinting about wishing SO would ask me to marry him, it makes me uncomfortable.

Angie said...

Kristin, that's pretty insensitive of your boss, IMHO.

Angie said...

I'm quiet today because I'm actually being pretty productive! Yay!

Any bored Survivor fans should go to EW.com and read Propst's ranking of all of the seasons. I'm so excited!! Shall we live blog Survivor tonight?

Robin in Montana said...

I think it's more than a little unprofessional, too, Kristin. Sorry he's doing that!

kristin said...

:( I don't think I will get internet service without my wireless thingy....although someone mentioned that they are able to connect to wifi from far away...so we shall see :)

kristin said...

It's a she...and she was my mom's best friend in jr. high and HS so she has known me since before I was born.

She wants what's best for me but only hears the "good" qualities plus she wants a reason to go on a cruise with us when we go. :)

I just hate hearing it.

Robin in Montana said...

Ah, I understand better now.

Heather said...

hey everyone!

i quickly got caught up here. don't have much to add because i am sooo far behind with tv. i stopped watching it when i got sick, not intentional, i just got so far behind on episodes and gave up.

but we just got dish network and DVRs. i feel so 2010 instead of stone age now. but gosh my tv is *old*! (oops) so i've been catching a few random shows. i have no idea where to start with regular shows anymore. i hate not starting at the beginning.

haven't checked out MWOP or the under 1000's sites (either) yet today. but now i gotta run and get ready to take the girls to softball practice. so happy they decided to play this season.

i heart softball and wish they had a league for *old* out of practice moms. (oops i did it again. but well, i feel old and i think i am old too. certainly older than my tv)!

hope to chat more tonight.

kristin said...

Oh Heather...you should really look into it.

I LOVE softball too and play on a team. It's actually a church league but I don't go to the church. I got "recruited" b/c they needed girls.

If I ever get health insurance, I will start playing football again.

Angie said...

Okay, so I WAS being productive. Now I'm being oh-my-god-it's-less-than-three-hours-til-Survivor distracted.

Hi Heather!

kristin said...

I can't wait to go home to go play with my new toy!

Woo Hoo!

But first I am going to get a hair cut...or a few hairs cut!

So let me ask you ladies out there...do you or did you get your SO/hubbies something for Valentine's day?

I thought about getting him a new camera since his just broke but am thinking of just a card.

Ideas?

Robin in Montana said...

Okay, all, I'm out for the evening. I won't even get Survivor until an hour later than my own time zone, so I doubt I'll be by to chat about it tonight -- will have to wait until tomorrow. In the meantime, chicken enchiladas are once again on deck for dinner, kids will be here soon, and I have a bed to make and other domestic crap I hate to do, to do.

Kristin -- I'm just buying Kelly a card. We need to get through this divorce and crap before we spend any money on anything, and both his Grayce and my Katie have birthdays this next week.

Especially if you're feeling off about him I probably wouldn't spend anything too much, but I'm kind of a witch like that. :D

Have a great evening!

Angie said...

Oh Boo, no RiM for Survivor chat. :-( I won't post any spoilers without warning, Robin, so don't stay away because of my extreme Survivor excitement!

Kristin, I agree with Robin. A card. And maybe a blow job. If he's really really good between now and VD.

kristin said...

SW - yeah, probably not going to happen...unless I can borrow Sue's monkey! lol!

Angie said...

I miss Sue. :-(

Angie said...

Random: I'm trying to figure out how to telephone New Zealand, and there's a country code for Antartica. Go figure.

Lisa said...

"Kristin, I agree with Robin. A card. And maybe a blow job. If he's really really good between now and VD."

For what it's worth, I don't think blow jobs and VD should ever be in the same paragraph together.

Lisa said...

Random back: If you figure out how to teleport there instead of telephone, take me with you.

Angie said...

"For what it's worth, I don't think blow jobs and VD should ever be in the same paragraph together."

So true. ::embarrassed::

But on the bright side: 40 minutes until Survivor!!

Lisa said...

Lord, you're all excited. So, is this the first show of the season? I have nothing better to do. Maybe I'll try it.

Hi JJ, Hi AP, Hi SW, Hi everyone :)

Just did the MF'ing taxes. Woo! Hooray for refunds!

Angie said...

Hi JJ! Have you been posting as JJ on MWOP?

Hi Bella!

Hooray for Survivor!!

Angie said...

Congrats on getting your taxes done already, Bella! I tend to wait until the last few days. :-(

justjaime31 said...

No I am not JJ on MWOP I havent posted over there. Dont want to get involved with the drama, but it is SOO fun to read :-) lol

justjaime31 said...

Our taxes are done, deposited and gone already :-( paid bills and gone...

Anonymous said...

SW, my taxes are fairly simple, so it's not too painful :)

How are you?

Angie said...

Mine are pretty simple too, Bella. But the dread of it and the finding the docs I need and waiting to the last minute make it stressful.

I'm super, Bella! In Survivor heaven!

Angie said...

JJ, I forgot how cute your little girl is until I just checked your blog. She's a doll!

Anonymous said...

I'm DVR'ing it, so no spoilers!

Angie said...

My fingers are taped, Bella!

justjaime31 said...

Thank you SW... She is a NUT case!! :-)

Lisa said...

JJ, hi!! :-)

Bella, let me guess. You're going to use your tax refund to buy beer?

Anonymous said...

AP, that would be a heck of a lot of beer!! Speaking of beer, we just put a nice Belgian Wit into the kegs tonight; it looks to be pretty tasty!

Our joint refund is going into savings for property taxes, with maybe a little left over for a nice dinner or something. Being an adult is so fun :(

Lisa said...

"Our joint refund is going into savings for property taxes"

Want me to take care of those for you? Because really, I have it down to an art form.

Anonymous said...

Yeah, AP. I love your "Divine Intervention" method of property tax management. Can you send an angelic blond to my door when mine are due? :D

Lisa said...

"Can you send an angelic blond to my door when mine are due? :D"

Sure! I'll send Robin in Montana. She's blonde and can put on a good show.

Angie said...

Awwww, RiM is our angel! Sweet.

Angie said...

Okay, Survivor's over and I'm headed to bed early. It was really good, for those of you who haven't seen it yet!

Hope some of our night chatters will come out tonight. Ya'll have fun!

PJ said...

Catching up - I'll be otherwise occupied as I go back to the beginning of this post to read!

PJ said...

Congrats on the taxes and refunds. Gotta do that too.

Corinne - missed you again! I watched The Bachelor for one season, and couldn't stomach the line of women waiting to have sex with a guy. For pay. (cause they do get paid). I mean, there's a name for that, isn't there? Not a prude, just find it lacking in respect.

PJ said...

I was on BGGB for a brief time. It's a LONG story, that if I'm very drunk sometime, I might be brave enough to tell.

Racking my brain trying to remember who was on at OHIH who I knew from BGGB. Cause I know there were some posters there - and I shook in my boots whenever they posted. And taped my mouth shut.

I know Angela (not SW) who also stirred some shit over at BF was from BGGB.

PJ said...

There was this whole episode of pot stirring at BF, during the OHIH heydays. Angela came to OHIH and posted some then.

But I can't remember the details - anyone?

Anonymous said...

Hey CK. I remember Angela, but not all that she posted.

Lisa said...

Popping in and no, I don't remember anything. Wasn't BGGB originally a group about April Rose, though?

Weird night here. For whatever reason, my ex-husband, after 11 years apart and 7 actually divorced, has decided tonight would be a good time to start making crank, hangup calls to me. The hell? I mean, it has to be him or his wife...they come from Knoxville and I don't know anyone else in Knoxville.

Anonymous said...

That is weird AP. Why would he do that?

Tee said...

I'm running in and running out again. Has everyone has had a good day?

Anonymous said...

Hi Tee, pretty good day here. We had a snow day (in N. TX) and will have another one tomorrow. My boys have had fun. It doesn't snow this much here but every few years. How about you?

PJ said...

BGGB came about out of bashing April Rose and JM. You had to ask to be "Admitted". Or perhaps I should say "Committed". Because it was insanity. And not a good kind.

There, that ought to bring out any BGGB members here.

Tee said...

Glad to hear your day was good, Christy. Mine has been well, thanks. Mom and I drove home today so I'm pretty wiped out. They are predicting snow for us but that's no real shock to anyone down here. After all, the Saints won the Superbowl and anyone would tell you that would only happen if hell froze over!

Tired, really tired, but a good kind of tired, you know what I mean?

Anonymous said...

That's good Tee. Sounds like you had a good visit.
My inlaws are in Alexandria and it looks like they might get some of this snow, too.

Lisa said...

Hi there, Tee!

Christy, I don't know. He's got a serious drug and alcohol problem and a lot of mental issues that make him...erratic. And violent. I've got a lifetime restraining order against him, something I never even knew existed and is worthless as hell, anyway. But once the divorce was over, we've actually gotten along incredibly well, everything considered. I mean, when he's come to get Jake, we will hug and talk easily. He's called a few times over the years just to talk and it's been sweet. He's typically dead sober when he does that and we've been able to talk about a lot of the ugliness and let it go. All I can figure out is that child support has really caught up with him and he's pissed. Or she's pissed about it.

Anonymous said...

Ugh AP. Does Jake have a good relationship with him?

Lisa said...

Christy, whatever the group was before BGGB, I was admitted and posted a few times. I don't even recall the name of it then and only stuck around for awhile. Once I tried to log in and couldn't - it had been a month or more since I had - and I never worried over it since I wasn't too excited over the place anyway.

Goodnight Tee.

Christy, no, Jake doesn't. They don't argue or anything. He loves Jake and Jake loves him simply by virtue of the relationship but there's no closeness anymore. I think they sort of feel an obligation to one another and I know Jake has been hurt by a lot. He knows his dad is a good man at heart, though - I've made sure of that because he *is - and that it's the substance abuse and mental illness that has caused all of this. They talk on the phone maybe once a month and he's not seen his dad in well over a year now. Neither seem too interested anymore. It's sad and I wish I could fix it but I can't.

Let us know how the appointment goes, Tee. :-)

That is sad AP. It's great that you have been able to remain friendly with him and help Jake have the best relationship he can. That says a lot about you. I'm not sure I could do it.

Christy, it's easy because I remember the man he can be when he's okay and we still see bits of that man from time to time. It's a pretty amazing man that makes a lesbian marry him for love. *grins* For a long time, 6 or so years, he was an *excellent* father, a true daddy, even if he was not a good husband by then. It's important that Jake remember that and know that it's not that his dad doesn't care...it's that he doesn't know *how to care now. But someday, he might be able to be a dad again and I want Jake to not expect it and be hurt, but to be open to it if it happens. Look at me, writing a novel. Sorry! Oh, and the dumbass is $13K in arrears. At $270 a month for child support, it's...um...been awhile.

SW,
You asked about my dad - he's doing pretty well. He took the train to Chicago to visit my nephew for a few days last weekend. He was so excited that they ate out at 4 different restaurants!

Museum, nephew's work, Sears Tower, church in an opera hall. Sounds like he had a great weekend.

PJ said...

AP - how's it going on the child support - is he paying it down, or is it being garnished from a paycheck?

Lisa said...

CK, I'm so glad to hear this about your dad..so glad he's enjoying things like this. How are *you doing? Are you getting any "messages" from Shirley Goodness?

PJ said...

I had a dream the other day. Shirley Goodness didn't like change. Not.one.bit.

The home health care aid had been doing ironing for them when she came. Well, one day I did some ironing, and was frightened by the condition of the 30+ year old iron, and stained, threadbare ironing board cover. So, I thanked the HHC aid profusely, awarding her saint status for putting up with the old equipment.

I bought a new ironing board cover and iron. Never told mom about it.

So in my dream, mom was alive, and had pulled the old iron and ironing board cover out of the trash, and was ironing using the old stuff. With a satisfied look on her face, that she had out fooled us.

CK, neither on child support. I had him found in contempt 5 times via attorney and court in the early 00's. He payed small purge amounts (less than 10%) to stay out of jail. We had 2 different garnishments in place during this time and he just ignored them. I gave up since it was costing me more in legal fees than I was getting and turned it over to the state. He then moved to another state. So now TN handles it only I am not allowed to communicate with them. I have to call Florida CS and they communicate with TN CS. There are now 2 garnishments in place in TN, as well. Last I knew, they tried to enforce it and he simply claimed he wasn't working (even though he was) and the answer to me is that "he says he can't pay because ghe isn't working". For the record, if I was on any kind of public assistance, they'd work harder at enforcing it and they've suggested I try to do this many times. Uh, no. I called CS about a month ago and unloaded on them. I'm wondering if maybe they're finally putting some pressure on him.

AP,
I'm doing the grieving stuff - which is not at all predictable or well defined. No road map for it at all. Just taking it as it comes.

Been really forgetful lately - told somebody there are four possible causes: Menopause, grieving, stress or early Alzheimers. I'm hoping for any but the last one.

Aww, CK, that had to be sort of comforting, I'd think. The dream, I mean. Like she was telling you not everything has changed, she's still her and knows what is going on. :-)

AP,
I probably should file with the county. Mine owes around the same as yours. He too, claims he's not working. Living with his girlfriend - everything is in her name. He works for her company and they pay her more to cover his time.

He owes so many people/companies money and back taxes, that he can't have any assets or income. Cause it would just be taken.

I don't know if I'll get anywhere with the county. They can't get it if he doesn't have it to get.

It'll never entirely go away so don't expect it to. You're doing the best thing ever...accepting it as normal.

"Been really forgetful lately - told somebody there are four possible causes: Menopause, grieving, stress or early Alzheimers. I'm hoping for any but the last one."

I think you could even bet on that and it be a safe bet. Menopause and grieving, particularly, will suck all brain function out of you.

You know, AP, it kind of was comforting. And it made me laugh. That's good.

AP,
Tonight dad has my sister, his two adult granddaughters, and two great granddaughters staying with him from out of town. He's going to be overwhelmed with three generations of Shirley Goodness' female offspring the next few days.

You'll probably never see it either but file anyway, just to keep it current. My attorney told me that if you don't do anything at all, after a few years (with grown kids), they figure that if you don't care then they don't either and will do nothing with the case at all. I call CS at least once a month and make sure they document it. You should file, if only for this reason.

AP,
How old is Jake? What does he like to do, besides dressing up as an Japanese school girl? hehe

Lisa said...

CK, your dad is going to be very happy with all that Shirley Goodness around him. I'm glad for that. I wish you could be there with them, though.

I was a member of BGGB. I was there til the end. It just got slower and slower and nobody posted anymore, so the Mods disbanded it. :(

PJ said...

LSM,
Was there any new news on Beccah B (April Rose's "Mom")?

When was BGGB disbanded?

Lisa said...

Hi, LSM...welcome to Oopsie Daisy!
*hands over a wilted daisy*

CK, he's 18. He's a musician, a really good, self-taught one, and lives for music. In fact, we just sent demo tapes of his band out to quite a few different companies, not that I expect much to come of them and not that I'd tell him that. He lives, breathes and eats music while he half-assedly finishes his senior year. Otherwise, he lives for his girlfriend, Natalie, who loves him for all his awkward, odd ways and who isn't the most average thing herself. Those two? Are a pair. :-)

Unknown said...

It's been a month or so. And no, we had long since forgotten about Beccah and April Rose.

PJ said...

Thanks LSM. Just curious.

And wondering where Beccah will show up next time.

Lisa said...

Does anyone know any more about that last couple she supposedly scammed?

Unknown said...

Raechel? The one she used as her 'friend.' She's pregnant with a little girl.
